played $3/$6 at ft. mcdowell in fountain hills, arizona, today. had a really nice run of cards and plenty of morons at the table. ironically, though, i took most of my chips from the only other tight aggressive at the table, including the following hands:
i got :Tc:
called in MP, called TAGG's raise from LP, 4 to the flop.
flop was :Jd:
i bet, TAGG raised, everyone folded but me.
turn was
i check-called.
river was the
i check-raised, he called and showed :Ad: :Ah:
later on, we had a KILL pot so the betting went to $6/$12 (!). i told the dealer not to give me anything playable but he gave me :Jc: :Js:
so i had no choice but to raise to $12, hoping this would just fold everyone down and i'd steal the blinds. no. despite my showing down QQ and AJ minutes earlier, i got *4* callers to the flop.
flop was :Ks: and i just about died. i took a peek at my cards and realized i had a high spade draw. then i realized that two of my callers were all-in so i was competing in a side pot with the other TAGG. i bet and he raised. i thought he must surely have a K and maybe even the As too. but i paid another $6 to see the turn.
turn was a blank. i checked, he bet, then i thought, irrationally, "maybe he is just betting into my visible weakness." this was idiotic on my part but i check-raised to $24 to see what he'd do. and i did still have a draw to the 3rd nut flush. he just called.
river was the and we checked it down.
he showed and i scooped $121.
i wanted to hang my head in shame with that play. talk about bad reverse implied odds in the side pot!! i should have folded on the flop but i was pretty much tilting and i got super lucky. i was shocked that nobody, even the all-in guys, had the Qs or As.
minutes later, i was in the BB and checked it blind in a 6way pot.
the flop was three hearts and it was checked to the button who bet his position (as usual). i took a peek and was shocked to see :Jh:
i thought about raising to get rid of single-card redraws but opted for the overcalls instead, of which i got only one. turn was a Qx, i went for the check-raise, but the button took the free card. ugh! two bad plays on my part. river was a Kx and i finally bet, getting HU vs the TAGG once again. he showed some kind of K and i sheepishly turn up my flush. the table groaned at me for slowplaying but i said i didn't even know what i had until the button bet.
i bought the TAGG a couple beers to prove i was sorry for cracking his hands all night. as for the others guys who kept playing every hand and rebuying repeatedly, i just took their money and smiled.
+$105 in 3 hours. almost 6 BB/hr!

fort mcdowell and the other casino arizona games are super easy..the 4/8 is just as easy with soo many bad players..might want to move up to that next time you go

If you have the BR, play 6/12. The rake is easier, and the players aren't a lot better.
BTW, I'll be at Casino Arizona 6/12 tomorrow.
*edit: I will be playing 20/40. Check out my "operation"

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.
