I really felt he had aces, yet I bet the turn instead of checking for a free card and cheap showdown. What would you guys suggest doing here?

I would suggest using the hand converter. If the guy only raises with made hands maybe you can fold that turn. But those players are few and far between. Sometimes you gotta grab your ankles and
The river woulda really scared me (now I'm beat by a better overpair or if he played an Tx too aggressively on the turn).
