Okay I know this rarely happens, however it still happens. This was from a few days ago but I still keep thinking about it. Mostly because I just had this feeling I was beat on the flop and it turned out I was right. At what point when flopping bottom set should we think we may be beat? On a board like this, it's pretty much never. So, is there something wrong with my state of mind that I think I may be beat so early on (regardless of how I played the hand)?

PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (10 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 4, 4
2 folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, Hero calls, 1 fold, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB checks

Flop: (7 SB) 4, 7, K (7 players)
SB bets, 2 folds, MP1 calls, Hero raises, 1 fold, Button calls, SB calls, MP1 3-bets, Hero caps, Button calls, SB calls, MP1 calls

Turn: (11.5 BB) A (4 players)
SB checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, Button calls, SB calls, MP1 3-bets, Hero calls, Button calls, SB calls

River: (23.5 BB) 2 (4 players)
SB checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, 2 folds, MP1 3-bets, Hero caps, MP1 calls

Total pot: $15.75 (31.5 BB) | Rake: $0.40

Results:
MP1 had K, K (three of a kind, Kings).
Hero had 4, 4 (three of a kind, fours).
Outcome: MP1 won $15.35

I'd cap the turn and then just call the river if he leads at us again. The raise on the river shuts out overcallers and opens us up to a 3bet when behind.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

i think i may be beat once he leads river again, like Korn said, i'd go for overcalls here.
Depending on my state of mind, i sometimes spew a bit and raise (the tribulations of an aggro player), but i would never cap the river. 77 is the hand that makes most sense for a limper going nuts all the way on such a dry board

i think the flop is waay too early to think you are beat. He could play KQ/KJ like that. Only after the turn action and him not caring about the ace and the big action, do we assume we are behind, imo.
I dont mind not capping the turn and keeping the others in, but then i raise river and call 3bet.
Either that, or cap turn, and go for overcalls on river.
Still a cooler.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking 77. Not KK, what a douche.

Set over set happens, but if you start playing scared of it you will lose more in unrealized profits than you will save in unlost bets.

i dont think i ever see this one coming. set over set is almost never on my mind. i certainly cap the turn.

i would like to say i go for overcalls on the river, but i dont think they fold to 2bets if they've made it this far. that flop didnt have many draws on it. that said, i dont cap the river w/o the nuts. i think i raise, and go for monster overcalls, but only call a 3bet. i scratch my head over what would lead all streets after i've put this much aggression in with him, and he keeps leading? then, 3bets the river? i expect to see an overset now, but am thinking two pair until this point.

i still get surprised we are beat. i am just not completely shocked he pulls over 77 or KK. KK is dumb, but we see it.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!
