Okay, this looks like a big ole bitch session but I assure you it's not. Throughout my poker career it has been hands like this eating my profits. Devouring. I think I clear right around half the minimum wage with my play. Woot.
This is a cry for help. Why the hell did I call this river? How do I stop?

Because folding would have been a mistake?
I think you're good here more than the necessary ~15% against any opponent.

calling the river isn't terrible. You'll see some random 2 pair hands in there often.
raise pf.

I agree with Midas. Not raising preflop was a much bigger mistake than calling the river checkraise, plus you will make it much more often than what happened to you in this hand.

It's a fairly serious analytic mistake to advise raising with this hand, one in, 2 off the button, without regard for game conditions. You'll want to consider the caliber of the limper, the tendencies of the players behind you, how passive or aggressive the talbe is postflop... No offesnse to anyone, but there really isn't anything clear about.

It is raise or fold IMO preflop, as you don't have odds to chase your set. Its probably clear to us cuz its so standard. Why shouldnt you raise preflop to isolate HU? The only hands he is behind here is 88+ and an open limper in these games has a much much wider range.
Otherwise, this hand was played perfect and I have no problems in paying him off. Remember, its better to make a 1 BB mistake by calling than a 6 BB mistake by folding.

ONLY if you are less than 83ish percent sure that your opponent has you beat.
Let's say you're 90% sure your opponent has you beat, you have to be getting 10-1 on your money in order to call that. Lose one bet or lose 6 bets. This is such an amazingly co-ordinated board flush and straight that i have a hard time Justifying the call there. This is not a large pot, muck the hand and walk away. If this were a large pot, say upwards of 10+BB. Then I'd crying call and say good hand when he showed one of his zillions of hands that beat me.

The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?
