Not too much you can do imo. The c/c on the turn would make me a bit suspicious because if he already had a big flush a sensible player would either lead or c/r. And 8x seems unlikely since he raised prefop. Doesn't leave many possibilities for what he would c/r on the river.

But it seems bad to not 3bet the river because against random .5/1 guy that just gives up too much value. Probably 4/5 times random .5/1 guy is NOT that sensible and has AsX or is just spewing with AK or god knows what.

Your opponent played it perfectly as it happened. Not much you can do really.

I dont understand why you dont like the call preflop..according to my chart, in late position you should call with any PP in a raised pot, as long as there is atleast 4 other callers. (I know there is only 2, but implied there will be more, since in low limit, people ALWAYS call atleast one preflop bet, because most preflop raisers, will bet almost ANYTHING.

I won lots of bets by hitting my set on the flop. But with that flush board, Id be very afraid to be so aggresive. Too much chance to be drawing dead. Especially the Turn. eew! Id prolly fold at turn.

Am I thinking too tight?

think about this statement. you WIN lots when you hit your set, but you cant get aggressive when the flush is up. hmmmm, sounds like because of the flushy boards you cant play a set as aggressively as you should to make up for the limited structure of this game. you cant get a whole stack like NL, so maxxing the times you do hit becomes more important to making the "chase" profitable.

and, number two....you didnt mention how often you MISS after cold calling with pp's.

you just cant set hunt pp's like you can in NL games. and, the chart to which you refer is likely talking about very loose, very passive full ring limit games. some games just arent like that anymore.

food for thought.

I don't mind the cold call preflop here. We're on the btn, and it's likely it'll be five or six way, our opponents are loose, and it's unlikely to get three bet preflop. Why not set mine?

just a general statement to get him thinking about WHEN its appropriate. here it may well be, but in alot of situations, i think we agree cold-calling with small/mid pps as a default will lead to trouble.
