Hi folks
One of those hands that get in your head. The river is not a scare card, but .... ah yuk.
Villian is 55/39 (40 hands), less aggressive post-flop, but he raised river twice on others with the goods...
Is the river a value bet? , or check with the intent to call (as I did)
The turn was scary with the A and the Heart,.... but I wasn't raised, so I'm feeling whimpy about the river check.

I think you made the perfectly right decision. If you bet I actually think its pretty questionable if he will call with anything that hasn't got you beat. Your check is sort of an offensive check since it could induce some kind of "desperation bluff", especially if he is a poor player.
And on the other hand, if he actually has you beat when you bet and choose to raise you, you will have to pay him off. Against certain player under some circumstances, maybe lead out on the river, but nine times out of ten I think the check is good. Just my 2 cents.

I think thats a pretty good check/call, but I'm a river passive pussy.
I'd put him either on an Ace or the King of hearts, in which case his aggressivness might make him bet the river on a missed backdoor flush bluff.
Youre not necessarily winning the most when youre ahead, - but you are losing the least when youre behind - and play this hand out enough times and you're behind way more than youre ahead.

I think a river check/call is good here, especially if villian is capable of a bluff river raise. If you bet the river, you must be prepared to fold to a raise.
