Forgive my ignorance. I'm not a limit player and don't pretend to be. But after an experience today, I may try it out. My retarded question is: is limit hold 'em online easier than no limit?
I accidentally enrolled for a $30 limit SnG today. And I tore it up. I have very little limit experience, so I just did common sense things: I played fewer hands than everyone else, I bet my good hands in a straight-forward manner, and I outlasted everyone. I engaged in almost no trickery (slowplay, check-raising, etc) until it got down to heads up play, at which point I felt like the other guy was good enough at limit & the blinds were high enough that it was warranted. And I got a bit lucky and even beat that guy.
Is this the world of limit, or am I just seeing one lucky afternoon of play? If this is what low and middle stakes limit is like, I feel like I should be playing more of it. It seemed like easily half the players at the table had no concept of basic strategy for a limit game. I have had similar experiences playing limit stud online, and similar results - I always made money without really being any good at the game. In stud I felt like profitability was simply a matter of folding more than the other guys and betting my good hands as often as possible, until/unless I knew I was beat. Is that all there is to it?

Limit hold-em is not easier or harder than NL hold-em, it's just a different game. You will most definately find Limit SnGs and Ring tables where your opponents are absolutely terrible and you win a lot of money. You will also find tables like these in NL hold-em.

Another limit/no-limit debate. It is definitely a different game.
There is also a big difference between a 10 person game and a 5 person game. I like both games a lot, and find both profitable (yet you can take huge downswings in both as well).
One big difference for me is that you don't have to think as much about implied odds. For a beginner I would advocate 3 basic rules: 1) never open limp (except maybe in really early position in a full ring game), 2) just bet when you have a hand on the flop, and 3) your only time to call is when you have not yet made a hand but you have the pot odds to call.
Following this should keep you even or better until you can figure out some more of the game's intricacies (e.g. there are some times and players against to try and steal the blinds, jamming draws, etc.).

I prefer 6max over ring games, it just makes more sense because big cards are more valuable, and less likely you're "trapped" with a hand like KJo
