Anyone else notice this? The fishies have decided that they don't like giving away cheap cards/showdown with their top/middle/bottom/pocket pair whatever kicker.
I'm also seeing more river bets out of nowhere.

A hand from the tournament I was in yesterday. I was not involved in the hand.
Preflop Action: Player A raises, player B calls.
Flop: 9 9 7
Flop Action: Player A bets, player B raises, player A calls.
Turn: 7
Turn Action: Player A bets, player B raises, player A calls.
River: 8
River Action: Player A bets, player B raises, player A calls.
Showdown: Player A: 2 2, player B: T 9
So . . . exactly what was player A calling on the river? Did he think his three pair was something special?

I've noticed this on a few PP $2/4 tables (I don't play online anywhere near as often as you do; do you see it on PP 2/4 alot?), but in my live $4-8 games, if someone has a pair, any pair or even ace-high, getting a free card or showdown is a very remote possibility.
What did you mean by stop n' go?

Calling a raise then leading the next round of betting into the raiser.

So I understand the thought process here...do you do this to determine if they are on a flush draw or actually have the goods?
I could see that if they just call your bet out, they probably are weak or drawing, but if they raise again, they might actually be sitting on a hand.

Stop and Go.
Are you trying this as a bluff? or only with top pair or better?
Do you fold if raised?
Does this translate into a winning NL play (you'd have to bet the pot to try, I think)?
Thanks.

Great flop...
It's funny as It's almost like he thinks that the pair of 4's are his only. I mean he must be thinking that you have a Q and a better kicker by only calling the three bet on the flop. In that case the 2nd 4 helps his hand in absolutely no way.
Why I just spent the 30 seconds or so trying to rationalize his bet on the turn after he raised with that hand is beyond me...

tripps, i had exactly the same thought. so many fish see the pair on the board and think, "WOW my hand just improved to two pair! i should bet again!" happens all the time.
once i was at the taj playing 2/4 and this lady next to me showed down bottom pair. after she lost, she said, "i couldn't fold that, i had aces up!" the aces were on the board. ridiculous.
