Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is CO with 8 , K .
5 folds, Hero raises, 2 folds, BB calls.
Is this a reasonable attempt at a steal?
Flop: (4.50 SB) Q , 9 , Q (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.
I'm pretty good to call just on the flush draw here. He may also be trying to scare me off of a perceived steal, right?
Turn: (3.25 BB) 8 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.
Now I have some more outs if he doesn't happen to have the queen. I thought the check probably meant he was giving up a resteal attempt, so I was surprised at the raise. I should just take my free card here anyway instead of betting, right?
River: (7.25 BB) 2 (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.
Is the pot small enough that I should just fold my bottom pair, or am I stuck with this crying call?
Final Pot: 9.25 BB

Yea I don't mind the raise, its 2/4 you might get a few frisky players that will protect with any two...
I think you should raise with this hand here i don't think he has a boat plus you are representing the Q at the same time, if he only calls the raise i think that he'll probably be checking the turn which is a goot spot to bet into him and either take it down or hope your don't get check raised...
given you flop play looked weak, I almost saw the check raise coming here he bets the flop then checks the turn, I would actually check behind him giving myself a free card and him a check raise whiff, you didn't improve here exception for the 8 which I honestly don't know if that's even goot...
Umm I think a crying call on the river is fine because some players are capable of playing this way with as little as Ace high...
Personally, PF I raise, Flop I raise (given his actions here is what I do on the turn), Turn (play accordingly to his flop action), River (if unimproved hopefully he’ll check to you that way you can check behind and see showdown, if he bets I call and hope he doesn’t have a Q or 9)... this might not be right let a few other chime in too...

I like the raise PF, I'd raise on the flop and continue on the turn depending on what the BB did. If he calls, I probably bet it out. If he 3-bets, you have some cause for concern..

I definately raise the flop for sure and then bet the turn when he checks to me. If I get raised on the turn, I call it down, if I get called on the turn, I just check down the river.

What hands will the BB call with? If he's a reasonable player, there aren't many hands you beat on the turn.
Raise the flop, check the turn, call the river.

Preflop: sure, they're suited, one big card. at least it has lots of potential
Flop: Why not raise? this says "i have a lot more nothing than you". and you do. he might quit right there. it gives better odds for chasing the flush. i think it helps define where you stand a lot better.
Turn: bottom pair is awful shakey, i'd like to think i could check behind. after the check raise I think you need the flush to win.
River: risk 1 to win 8. how often is bottom pair good enough? i think he has a nine or better, so i'd give up. i don't think a call is wrong, it's just not what i think i'd do.

The fish love to get tricky when they have the goods. I've learned to take free cards when offered more often myself, but you need to consider each situation. Consider that is this hand, you can't fold to a turn/raise but still hate to call, the pot is really small and you have showdown value. All good reasons to check the turn behind.
BTW, I've been seeing this kinda thing more and more often after the tight/passive players figure out I'm not just raising the top 5% of hands pre-flop and will apply lots of post-flop pressure...
