Ok preflop let's assume that you raise and will cap with AK every single time from any position.
I also know that how you play AK depends a lot on who your opps are, but for this example let's assume your opps are good 30/20 players.
I also think when the flop comes with an A or K the hand pretty much plays itself.
So for each example let's presume that the hero has :Ad: :Ks:
and that the flop in each case comes :Qh:
Let's also presume that in each example you are the first one to act and you bet and get called by your opp's on the flop.
The turn is the
My question in each example is how to play the turn? Check or bet?
Ex. 1 - You are SB and both the BB and the guy in the CO who posted his blind after sitting out a while called your raise preflop and your bet on the flop.
Ex. 2 - You are button and both the SB and BB called your raise preflop, checked the flop to you and then both called your flop bet. They both check to you again on the turn.
Ex. 3 - You are SB and are heads up with BB.
Ex. 4 - You are button and are heads up with BB. He checks to you again on the turn.
If you don't like examples - the other way to put this question is when does checking the turn with AK become a -EV play by being too weak and when does betting the turn with AK become a -EV play through spewage?

Ex. 1 - If I think I have any fold equity I bet out, if not check/call.
2 - bet again
3. bet
4. bet.
As you can see I spew heaps.

I'm betting in all cases, and calling any raise until a draw pans out. I'll use gabe's line HU in position only against the tightest -- someone who doesn't raise without two pair. If the person's tight enough, I could fold the river in that case.

Your opponents are 30/20 type players so this tells us a few things. If you bet and they raise you'll have to fold. Since it is 3 handed tags won't bluff at the pot, and thats a 99% certainty.
I personally like to mix it up some, if you have already checked behind and autocalled before with a marginal holding, bet this time and rep the Queen. I think both instances have merit and neither should always be done. Also, they both should be done on the same table moreso than on different tables. As, when you check behind you want them to assume you have a marginal holding so they'll bluff you and when you bet you want them think you have a hand.

3-handed I sometimes check, sometimes bet, but I lean to checking. HU I definetly bet.

As stated, I check/fold hand 1. Against different players I bet the whole way.
The other hands I bet ~99% of the time.
I may even check raise hand 3. If it checks through, i check/call any river.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.
