Hi
You folks and others have provided me an incredible amount of insight.
It seems clear that there are folks with a wealth of knowledge on this site.
My questions is, why do you folks seem to playing 1/2 and 2/4 LHE games?
In general, I have not found much talent difference at 10/20 over 5/10 and 5/10 over 2/4. If fact 2/4 can be real tight...
I am guessing you folks have good bankrolls and are winners. I'm just real curious why the most knowlegable posters seem to be at lower limit tables. I don't know a 10th of what you guys do, but I'm holding my own at 6h 10/20. In fact I would like to pay Fnord to watch me for two hours and help me plug what must be several leaks.....(and missed opportunities)
I would think some of you folks could make a killing at 10/20.
What am I missing?
PS. This is not a criticism, just an observation.

Great question.
And the answer is:
We don't have the BR, and we are generally timid when it comes to moving up. I think some members of the FTR community have royally put fear in our minds of the levels above 'micro' *cough* fnord *cough* and it takes a little push and shove to get us to move up.
We spent a lot of time bonus whoring and are just starting to get our feet planted. I think by the end of this year, mike and hyper will both be above 5/10 if not 10/20. I plan to be right there with them if not leading the way. Our biggest problem is the experience and the lack of hands. I plan on consolidating my BR into one site, and build that up to allowable levels for 10/20. I've got almost 2k in my rakeback account now to which i'm play 5/10, once that gets up to 6k, i'll be knocking at 10/20.
No offense to you, but I've wondered how you do so well. Could you post some numbers of your experience at the higher limits? also, could you post some hands?

Thanks Jeff
No offence taken. Keep in mind, I said "I am holding my own"..not making a killing. I make Ok $ at work, and made 8K in Blackjack last year playing just Basic Strategy, so I was able to into LHE with some guilt free cash.
So, I took my 8k and promptly lost 3K of it at Ultimatebet at 5/10. Then I took a 1 month break and read everything I could get my hands on and then lost another 2K. Then I spent a month just watching and also reading. I then moved over to Empire and found two things (1) Ultimatebet had WAY better players, and (2) I was better for watching, reading, understanding, etc.
I play tight starting hands (few), but I play them aggressively. I find I can win with the hands or by repping sometimes. Anyway, at Empire I am up $4300 in two months at mosty 6H 10/20. So I am still down $700 at LHE overall.
I'd be up I hadn't jumped into this game half-cocked.
I don't have pokertracker or anything, so If someone can tell me how to extract a hand off Empire, I'll post some. I like UB because you could always check hand history to see what the loser had, and the stats were helpful. Downside, is there were too many good players.
Perhaps I could do better there now, but I have good vibes about Empire, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I know I must have lots of holes in my game, but I think I have Ok instincts. That said, Jeff, I still feel that I am still out ahead of my game, if you will. But, I can't step back to 5/10 until I feel I can't play solidly where I am. Truth is, I am worried about what I don't know. Does that make any sense....?
Hope your transitition to 10/20 is good, and I hope I never run into you at the tables...how's that for shakey confidence....
Thanks again for your answer.

Personally I rarely play 10/20, 30/60 although im often 4-tabling 5/T, simply because poker isn't a job for me, the amount of money that I make isn't very important, and I don't want to deposit any more. Is this weak tight? Yeah, probably. I surely am BRed for 3-table 10/20 or such, but I'm just being a bit weak-tight about it.
Oh and also, 5/T->T/2T is the first major gap of skill online imo.

The reason I haven "stepped up" per say is that I cash out money out of my account monthly. If I actually kept it in there I would have the bank roll for 20/40 easily....but I dont. Its also sort of a comfort thing. I multitable so it is easier to autoplay a 6 2/4 games. I have been mixing in some 5/10 with success but I only 2 table it.
2/4--fishy calling stations
5/10---weak tight or over aggressive turds

bankroll is the main reason holding me back. that and psychological issues.
put in me a 10/20 game and i would not be comfortable at all. i've never been at a game that high, and losing a $120 pot would drive me crazy....and then i would realize it's only 6 big bets, but still....
what others said is true, comfort is key. no matter what mad skillz you have, if you're not comfortable losing regular $300 pots you are not ready for 15/30. heck, at that level you'll probably lose regular $600 pots!

lol...it's always funny for me that when I get rivered by a 3 outer or so in 5/10 for $100+, I'll shrug it off like it was nothing, but if I go down to the grocery store and see a loaf of bread is 20c off, it sounds like a great deal .

Because it's easier to take the swings playing a smaller game I can beat at 3BB/100 over a bigger game I can beat at 1BB/100. I also had a REALLY bad run at 15/30 which has kept me away from that game for a while.
Overall, I focus more on playing the best balance between stakes and softness.
Also, the Party 3/6 game is often tough enough to keep me growing as a player.
