So I'm new and stuff. Howdy.

I started playing 6max limit on PS last week after reading Hyper's essay. Brilliant. Just on that advice alone I've been running about 4bb/100 for my first 5000 hands at .50/1.00. Brilliant! I'm stoked, and I love this game.

But I'm having a problem. There seems to be a pattern emerging.

When I first sit down at a table, the aggression really throws the calling stations for a loop. They naturally assume sinc I raised I must be bluffing and call all the way to the river. Chips pile up in a hurry.

But then they get wise to it and either a) leave, b) tighten WAY up and slow play like crazy when they do make a hand, or c) start playing back at me hard and fast, to the point where I can't figure out where I'm at in the hand. I'll end up donking off about half of my gain, and then bail to another table.

Anybody have any similar experiences. If so, I'd like to know what the solution is. (I know that's a bit general, but it's a broad topic I suppose.)

****damn... wrong forum... I meant to go to 6max limit. Mod help please and thanks!

Wow this sounds like you are running EXTREAMLY well... trust me 4bb/100 is not sustainable in the long term, hell i would be impressed if you he’d a >2bb/100 in the long term at 6max...

Anyways as for the calling stations thing... it is 0.5/1 i figure that if you play ABC 20/10 you can crush that game...

hell you can play ABC at all 6 max tables if you have correct table selection at small stakes... but that's not the point of this response...

in 6max you have to change gears A LOT... if you are running over the table in your high gear and start getting resistance then flip it to low gear and slow down... wait till they respect you again and run them over again...

6max is so dynamic you need to be willing to switch it up when the need arises...

for example, i'll play 25/18 or whatever, if that's running people over easily i become a 30/22 or whatever... if that get resistance i drop to 23/13 or something around there... based on my opponents and my current image at the table...

i think that this will help you keep your money and not have to hit and run as much...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
As you might expect the bad players lets say a 50/20/0.5 plays slightly differently at all levels... 0.5/1 and 1/2 it's exactly the same but 2/4, 3/6, 5/10...
it changes and once you hit high stakes well lol it's really different how that 50/20 will play...
anyways i'm done rambling nice having you to 6max, hopefully we'll see you posting some hands and asking good questions...
Thanks for the response.
One of the things I've noticed this morning is I'm playing too loose post flop... hence LETTING them slowplay me because I'm doing the betting for them.
And I guess if I'm going to play limit I'm going to have to finally break down and get pokertracker and a HUD. Bah...
I'll try and post some hands over the weekend and get some feedback.
if you are playing 6max without PT that's not good, go buy it right now!!!
yeah - who would ever think of doing such a foolish thing??
(In case you didn't know I have been playing mostly 5 max limit for the past 2 years as my cash game on Paradise and didn't use PT and did better than breaking even - but I just got PT and moved to Party where I can actually use it and I can already tell it will only help my game).
Along a similar line... let me get opinions on this...
Player to your left chronically cold calls everything, allowing the rest of the table to school. Find a new seat?
Find a different seat or cheack raise! 6-max limit is really easy to beat at the lower levels (I used to play that exclusively). You really do just need to change gears. Get reads and use them. Trap people as effectively as possible.
If I had a hammer
I'd drop in the morning
I'd drop in the evening..
He said he cold calls he didn't say he bets, there is a difference there lol...
Anyways if i have a chronic cold caller to my left I try to get a set to his left so he has to act BEFORE i do most of the time if that is not possible fin a new table...
Maybe find a new seat if it is a chronic coldcaller and he is interfering with your ability to isolate, although if you take notes on what he is coldcalling you with, you may find he is coldcalling a very small range of hands, in which case you can play accordingly.
if you have a cold caller move
move now
now not in 5minutes
otherwise alter your raising requirements, but its much easier just to find a better seat
