Ok i have around 50k hands of limit poker in my pt database. That sounds like a lot but when i do an exact hand in an exact position the sample is mighty small and insignificant. Ie i have only been dealt j/10 suited on the button 15 times. So how many hands do i need in pt to start geting a significant sample?

If you want some sort of accurate statistic as to your play with a specific hand in a specific position -- well -- you'll need hundreds of thousands of hands of poker. Its probably a futile attempt for anyone who isnt a hardcore professional.

With that said, 50k hands is a month to a lot of pros.

To kinda piggyback (aka threadjack) my previous thoughts, my personal view has always been that profit is simply a function of hands played. At its most fundamental, profit = winrate * hands played. So even if you only pull a .5bb/100 winrate if you play enough hands, you'll make just as much money as the guy making 2bb/100 who doesn't play enough hands.

The old trading addage "its not timing the market, its time in the market that matters" applies.

But thats not an excuse to pull up 12 tables and go for it.

Unless youve mastered that skill.

It IS a reason to go from 4 tabling to 5 tabling if you can. And one day when thats easy, from 5-6, All the way up until the site wont let you have more. Then you open another site.

I believe that learning to add tables while not take significant winrate hits (IE, dont play like shit) is one of the most fundamental yet overlooked skills of a true online grinder. Learning to beat a game for 3bb/100 is nice for bragging rights, but if youre only one tabling, well, you're just not maximizing profit even though youre an expert player.

well it isn't so bad with os hands. Ie i have been dealt kj off 4 off the button around 114 times. Right now i do not feel comftrable playing more then 3 tables at a time. Also i have all my money on ub and at low stakes limit it is hard to find even 1 table going.
