So much for discussion, eh?
Well, I voted Hi/Lo because from my [very] limited experience I find a lot of crazy gambling going on in Hi/Lo, plus the low pot adds another strategic element that skilled players can use. There are often 3-way massive river pots, If you hold the nut low hand or the nut Hi hand your almost guaranteed a profit. You just dont Ever want to be sucking 2nd tit in Omaha.

heheh, well i figured that both variants usually have the same number of limpers and callers, so usually the pot sizes are about the same.
however, hi you are always guranteed the entire pot.
hi/lo, most of the time you're only good for half the pot.
now fish play horribly at both variants, but the hi/lo aspect seems to screw with their minds a bit more. experts play for at least 3/4 of the pot every time. or continue drawing to half the pot when there's enough dead money.
so really...it's all about whether in hi/lo you can scoop enough and all the half pots you take are enough to make you more money then to get the entire pot every time in hi.
personally i say hi!
just cuz it takes so damn long to scoop a pot in hi/lo.

Hi/Lo more hands look better. When you draw with A235 you're almost guarenteed half the pot if there is a qualifying low. So with these hands, you can focus on getting extra bets in and show a small profit. Also, when that one beauty of a hand rolls around and you scoop a pot, it puts you way up. Its hard to lose a lot of money if you don't commit any without a nut or near nut draw.

Omaha hi would be more profitable than hi/lo, because you win more money winning pots in hi, than the amount of money in scooping pots in hi/lo.

That's not true. With several people playing for opposite halves of the pot, it will get bigger by default.

but how many pots do you actually win in hi/lo? not many, well I dont as I like to win the whole pot and not halve.
So wouldnt you win more money playing hi than winning the occasional pot in hi/lo? Ive had limited experience at omaha so maybe Im not qualified to say which one is more profitable.

The edges for both tight pre-flop play and skilled post-flop play are MUCH lower in Omaha Hi only. Watch the WSOP Omaha hi event on ESPN some time and notice just how close the percentages are compared to Hold'em.
Mason talks about this in one of his Poker Essay chapters. Since I keep referenceing this article, so maybe I'll look it up one day...

like a500lbgorilla said, Omaha hi/lo builds up bigger pots. you make a good profit from winning half, and when you do scoop the pot, you probably almost double up, if not even more. plus, fishes play way to many hands way to long, when all they can hope for is to make a very marginal profit by taking half the pot, chasing when they shouldnt. Hi/lo imo puts skill before luck, and that should be profitable to most good players, and surely youre one of them

Hilo/moreso than hi, can reward decent profits just by playing only good hands. Many hilo players dont understand what those good hands are.
Yesterday someone re-raised me all in with a garbage a2 hand, where we would split the low, and I already had the nut high and he had no draws.
People don't understand the concept of playing hands only with the chance of scooping.

Well I can say I have played both, more Hi than H/L. I personally like Hi, quartering pots suck!!!! But you split the pot in Hi a lot too. I had like 5 split pots today, mostly nut straights, luckily there was a top set hanging around 2 out of the 5 times so we would having something to split. I did however get Ray Zee's Split poker today, so maybe I will do some more research and work at Hi/Lo!
