I was playing short-handed... then all of a sudden all of these people join the table. All of them post. I'm on the button with 84o. Is it worth calling against mostly random hands?

KoRnholio will become famous soon enough
That's one of the few hands I would fold preflop with in that spot.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

Yeah, thinking about it I think I needed 84s or something
because 89 has me crushed - when I make an 8 high straight 89 makes a 9 high straight

I win 6% of the time considering I will have to fold if I don't get a piece of the flop (when I could still win) and I'm getting 1 to 8

I got the 6% figure because pokerstove gave 6.5% in monte carlo trials, and I'm guessing hitting runner-runner after missing the flop or folding because I don't have the odds to draw to a gutshot on the turn or something

but I doubt position will give me enough of an edge to make back 0.5 SB post-flop

Probably fold this preflop.

Bet the river please.

surely, we dont need much more than 7:1 to play ANY two in an unraised, mostly posted pot looking for two pair+? if we only play for 2pr+, dont we need to win a 13ish bet pot? we have 4 in already, counting us. if we are in position, dont we stand a better chance of getting another 9 in when we connect? all i'm saying is that this HAS to be really close.

if you were SB, though, this is an easy call.

what if we are BB and UTG raises and all posters call? we still play any 2, yes?
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!
