Long time lurker here, so first some context for the following question:

My stats so far (I know, small sample size):

Game: Party $0.50/$1.00
Hands: 3934
VP$IP: 19.90%
Won $ WSF: 34.58%
BB/100: 6.41
Went to SD: 34.58%
Won $ At SD: 51.70%
PF Raise: 9.15%
Aggression Factor-
Flop: 2.97
Turn: 3.40
River: 2.37

Specifically, I'm looking at my Won $ At SD stat, and it seems to be a few percentage points low compared to others posted in this forum.

Time and again, I'll raise pre-flop, hit TPTK on the flop (or have an overpair), bet the flop, bet the turn, at which point I'll get raised (either behind me or check-raised from someone in front). Typically I'm calling this raise and check/calling the river unimproved, usually losing to two pair or trips. I don't have any specific numbers (other than my Won $ At SD), but it seems that I'm perhaps calling down too much with the second best hand. And I don't feel like the times I do call down and win make up for all the times I'm beaten.

Any thoughts? Should I start folding to that turn raise? Or call that and fold the river when no help comes? I know SSHE says pay them off with confidence, but I feel like I could be saving some bets here. Also, any comments on the other stats listed above are welcome.

Thanks,

Boot

I had a thread on this recently, but I can't seem to find it. The general theme, though, was to call down with TPTK or better.
TylerK: its just gambling if i want to worry about money i'll go to work lol

Often you have more outs than it would seem on the turn because if the right card pairs the board then your opponent's two pair is counterfitted. Also in loose games the pots get so large that you only have to have the best hand a fraction of the time to show a profit on a call down. Instead of following a specific rule on what to do work out how much it's going to cost you to call down and work out how often you have to be good for a call down to be +EV. Once you work this out your hand reading skills can do the rest. You can be more liberal with call downs than you probably realise.

51% won at showdown and a 34% went to showdown sound about right anyway, nothing to really worry about especially at only 4k hands. BTW your other stats look really good.

At .5/1 (and 1/2) you can fold to turn raises a little more often than in bigger games. Particularly with a passive reads. However, overall calling down a turn raise with TPTK is a nessisary evil to avoid being pushed out of too many pots. Between the chance of sucking out or having the best hand it's pretty good poker.

it should also make you think twice about entering pots that he wants to play.

Given his small sample size he's probably just on a good rush. Also, given your aggression, the magnitude of the swings will sting (not necessarily a bad thing). But I doubt if he has hit a big swing yet. Also, move up to 1/2 if you doing that good.
