I recently made the jump from 2/4 to 3/6 LHE on pokerstars. At first I thought the jump would be a huge difference as people like Fnord and Hyper play 3/6+ but then I came across hands like these. These aren't so much of hands needing analysis, just more of an "I love 3/6" display. As always, results available upon request.
Hand 1:
BB is 38.89/9.72/0.82 (inc. pf) over 72 hands
PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 8 , 8 .
UTG calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks.
Flop: (5 SB) 3 , J , 8 (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, CO folds, SB calls, BB calls, UTG folds.
Turn: (4 BB) 2 (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, SB folds, BB raises, Hero 3-bets, BB calls.
River: (10 BB) 2 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero 3-bets, BB caps, Hero calls.
Final Pot: 18 BB
Hand 2:
MP2 is 36.75/19.66/1.26 over 117 hands
BB is 12.43/3.39/1.0 over 177 hands
PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (7 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is SB with Q , J .
2 folds, MP2 raises, 1 fold, Hero calls, BB calls.
Flop: (6 SB) K , 6 , 9 (4 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, MP2 bets, Hero calls, BB folds.
Turn: (4 BB) 7 (3 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets, Hero calls.
River: (6 BB) T (3 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets, Hero raises, MP2 3-bets, Hero caps, MP2 calls.
Final Pot: 14 BB
Hand 3:
I raised preflop as a value raise/blind steal attempt figuring no one ahead of me was good, I probably have the best hand right now... Plus I felt the gamb00l in me and I wasn't going to open-limp
SB is 20.59/3.92/0.68 over 102 hands
PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q , J .
4 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, SB calls, 1 fold.
Flop: (5 SB) Q , 2 , 3 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.
Turn: (3.50 BB) J (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.
River: (5.50 BB) K (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.
Final Pot: 7.50 BB
Hand 4:
I figured my hand had a shot of being good at the turn given the flop checked through. I'm putting MP2 on an unimproved AQ or mid pocket pair and BB was just defending... poorly.
BB is 14.81/7.41/1.25 over 27 hands
MP2 is 37.93/27.59/1.45 over 29 hands
PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with T , T .
1 fold, Hero raises, 1 fold, MP2 3-bets, 3 folds, BB calls, Hero calls.
Flop: (9.33 SB) J , K , 3 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks.
Turn: (4.66 BB) 8 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP2 folds, BB folds.
Final Pot: 5.66 BB
Hand 5:
This hand I would like some analysis on though. I felt I misplayed the flop horribly and it led to misplaying the turn and river.
SB is 20.0/15.0/1.17 over 40 hands
MP1 is 15.79/10.53/2.53 over 114 hands (I did not know these stats until later)
PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Preflop: Hero is Button with K , A . CO posts a blind of $3.
2 folds, MP1 raises, 1 fold, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets, SB caps, 1 fold, MP1 calls, MP3 calls, Hero calls.
Flop: (18 SB) K , 5 , Q (4 players)
SB bets, MP1 raises, MP3 folds, Hero calls, SB calls.
Turn: (12 BB) 8 (3 players)
SB checks, MP1 bets, Hero calls, SB calls.
River: (15 BB) 9 (3 players)
SB checks, MP1 bets, Hero calls, SB calls.
Final Pot: 18 BB

Those are some nice hands. I wish my move up to 0.25/0.50 treated me as well, haha (as you can tell, it didn't).
Anyway, for hand #5, yeah, I think a call on the flop is definitely the worst thing to do. You either want to raise or fold. It's a shame that the pot is bloated, because even with a reraise, I doubt SB is going to fold if he has any sort of hand.
MP1 seems like a TAG by stats, so he may be conscious of position and the like. His pre-flop raise tells me that A.) He has a medium to high PP, or B.) He has AK, AQ, AJ, KQ, and possibly KJ and JQ, either suited or unsuited.
SB just seems like a tight passive who likes to raise preflop a lot. He could be a threat, but his passiveness isn't going to let you know until showdown.
MP1's flop raise of the SB's bet tells me he isn't chasing a flush draw, because he'd probably just call the bet. Because of his stats, I'd say he's raising to isolate himself with just the SB. He'd also probably slowplay a set, so that shouldn't be a huge concern. So, essentially, you're either up against a pocket pair of aces or jacks or he has paired a king or queen (possibly both). In this case, you are beating AQ, AJ, KJ, JQ, and JJ, losing to AA and KQ and splitting with another AK. With that range, I'd say you're in decent shape to continue. Therefore, I'd say reraise to define your hand and see what the SB and MP1 do. Hopefully, SB might fold, though I doubt it. Hopefully MP1 will calm down and simply call your reraise.
If you're capped on the flop, well, you're probably up against either aces or two-pair. In both cases, you have two outs to win, and you can't tell which set of two outs are good, so that taints them, probably making you have a grand total of one, countable out. Against a cap on the flop, I'd fold since it would be too much of a guessing game.
If it's checked to you on the turn, fire another one out and see what happens. On the river, take the free showdown if you can.
----
Sorry for the lengthy analysis, I like to talk myself through these hands, since I'm learning as well. If anyone sees faulty logic, please let me know.

Romulus: your analysis is pretty good and is exactly what I thought during the hand... although I thought way too late during it

I know what you mean. I can analyze these things after the fact, but I've been working on my discipline of not clicking a button based on a gut intuition. It's one of my leaks and is the reason my overall winrate is lower than it should be.
Just gotta keep working on it.
