Inspired by Fnord's thread...

When do we want to check/raise in PLO? I have this weird 2 year old revelation from playing a PL HE tourney that check/raises took on a whole new meaning in pot-limit games. But I don't seem to have a real consistant place to use them in PLO ring or 6max games.

I mean, we can fall back on TOP and c/r if an only if we think our opponent will lead AND call when we want moneies in the pot or lead and fold (or check behind) when we are bluffing.

Also, I guess c/r is much better when you have relative position (1 off the button, effectively) in a multi-way pot. Tricky because at stakes I play (with some exceptional maniacs) there is little in the way of PF raising, so "check to the raiser' doesn't apply.

When do we c/r HU in PLO?

Vs. an over-aggro flop player? (since he likely bets with nothing, but will fold to a full pot raise)
When we have a good back up hand like, set+nut draw, or huge draw (18+ outs)

What about when we flop the vulnurable nuts (top set or most straights or even flushes) vs. near lock hands (overfull, quads).

C/R the river seems easiest when river the nuts on the draw vs. an aggressor. Turn also, or does this just care people away?

I've noticed that c/r are most effective against c-bets of preflop raisers in particular and on the flop in general.

It's an incredibly strong move that guaranteed of getting all the money in the middle if pfr has AAxx and the flop is "harmless" or if pfr has a draw. It's typcially done by people who flop sets or trips at tables with a fair amount of pre-flop raising and c-bets.

I think it's great with huge draws as you want all the money in against people with 2 pair or weaker draws.

In cases where you flop vunerable nuts it can be the only way of protecting yourself against the field. (You'll get a lot of callers if you just bet the pot (say 5xbb) then if you're able to raise it up to 20xbb b/c someone else bet the pot after you.)

I'm not a fan of it HU as it just scares people away. Just bet your hand and hope they have enough to call, but don't build a pot oop.
