I've read varying opinions all over the place about how many buyins you should have to play PLO successfully. So I figured I would come here and ask since FTR is obviously smarter than everybody else...
So how many buyins should I have to play PLO25 or PLO50 assuming that I am willing to move back down stakes if I drop a bunch of buyins?
Currently I have around $1500 and am playing PLO25, just wondering when I should move up or if I am underrolled at the moment (which I am according to some people).

if you're willing to drop down then a 20 buy-in roll is fine
I'd take a shot at $50plo now if I were you, and drop down if you blow 10+ buy-ins.

yeah this works for me too.
FWIW starting out at mostly 1/2 with some .5/1 and 2/4 I was up about 10 BIs, dropped 20 (def some bad play in here), up ~35 over all now. And again that's starting from never playing any cash omaha and just a few tourneys. I have had +5 and -5 BI sessions @ 1/2. 55k hands

Awesome, that is waht I was thinking. I think I will start playing a mix of 25 and 50 for a while, then probably move up to 50 completely in a week or two.
And ya I swang pretty hard Saturday, like -10 buyins or so. But was mostly because of bad play, and I went +15 buyins yesterday so s'all good.
Thanks guys.

You can be playing perfectly and losing stack after stack, such are the frequency of ‘coolers’ in this game. As soon as you start loosening up pre-flop though, it’s time to quit. I would recommend taking a break if you lose three full stacks at a table, regardless of whether you think you can still play optimum poker.
