I am constantly debating with my best friend. He ALWAYS calls 4th st with any 3 to a straight and flush. Example ... starts with Kc-10c hole and 9c door. Next card is 8d. "3 to a straight ... 3 to a flush." I very rarely will call a bet, breaking off my flush draw. I do not even consider the 8-9-10 a draw hand on 4th street. He tells me I am losing a lot of potential pots. My theory is that he is "drawing for a draw" and even if he improves on the flush or straight, he still has only two more cards to complete a hand. PLEASE ... when is it proper to make a call on such a type of 4th street hand, and when should it definitely be mucked? THANK YOU FOR ANY INPUT ON THIS SUBJECT AND OUR CONSTANT DEBATING OF THIS ISSUE LOL -Marc- "PeoriaPokerPro"

TLR is an unknown quantity at this point
I would consider calling one bet under the following conditions:
1. I do not expect a raise from anybody behind me
2. There are a lot of live cards for both the str8 and the flush

It would be a good play if most of your cards were live, and it was a cheap multi-way pot.

Again, if (almost) all the cards you were drawing to were live, the pot was multi-way, you were last to act or confident that there wouldn't be a raise behind you, and the pot was already large then I guess you could make an argument for calling one small bet.

The problem with this though is that when you call on 4th street and 5th street helps you. At this point you're pretty much committed to calling the large bet on 5th and 6th street to make a hand that will come at best 1/3 the time. The call on 4th street for 1 SB actually ends up costing you 5BB.
TheXianti: (Triptanes) why are you not a thinking person?
