Ok this question concerns just the river. You floped tptk with a hand like AQ or AK you are first to act in the hand and you have lead out on the flop and turn only to have the river to put a 3rd card of the same suit on the board. For emample the board now has 3 diamonds on it. With multiple chasers calling you down to the river what is your play here? I confess i don't really know what the optimum play is in that spot I mean should i check and hope to induce a bluff. Or maybe i should bet and hope they call with a worse hand.

You are officially posting this in the full ring forum, so I have to asssume you're talking about full-ring. If not, let me know and I'll move this over to short-handed (yes, we have a short handed forum now!)
Heads Up, I don't worry about the flush so much, unless my opponent gives me a reason to. If it was heads up in the situation described, I would bet, and if he raised (unless he is a very very very aggressive player) i would probably fold -- and even then, folding strong hands in big pots is generally a bad idea.
If there are multiple callers, though, and the flush (or straight, really) completes on the river, a check isn't too aweful.
Again, that is for full ring. At six max, you simply can't worry about those things.

It depends a lot. This is the kind of spot where reads make and save you money.
Quite often I just bet out and often call a raise. Weak players don't bluff rivers when checked too often enough for check/call to be a great default line.
