I would like everyones philosophy on playing mid to large pairs after the flop. I mean pairs from 88 to JJ. I would like you to assume you are in middle to late position and are the first raiser in a limp pot and have 3-4 callers. I would like you to take into account two situations:
1. You miss your set and there is one overcard on a rainbow flop
i.e.- you hold TT and the flop comes Kd8c3s
2. You miss your set, the board comes all undercards straightening with two flush cards.
i.e.-TT vs. a 5c6c7s flop
I have a certain theory about the second flop but I would like to hear everyone's play in these two situations. I believe one of my biggest leaks (amongst many) is post flop play with these middle pairs.
If you could tell me how you would play each one of these flops and the next two streets as well. Thankyou for any advice.

If there is a field of limpers, raising 77-99 is just adding to your variance, so I wouldnt raise those unless you are open raising with no limpers in front of you.
If you have middle pair on that board, treat it like you normally would a middle pair. You may be ahead so I would bet, and continue to do so until I face resistance, but if you get raised you can automatically fold. Secondly, if another overcard comes and there are still a bunch of people in, I would just give it up.
On the second one its a draw heavy board but I would not give anyone any free cards. If you have a chance to limit the field then do so, otherwise wait for the turn to come. Also helps if you have one of the suit as your ten.

I treat middlepairs like bottompairs.
In the end most of the time when u didnt hit your set you have nothing.
Hand No.1 If someone bets, i would call to see the turn. But i would only pay one bet. Cuz TT isnt so bad and i think it is worth seeing the turn.
Hand No.2 Just check! Trying to limit the field when the flop is like this is unreal. In the low limit games the people will chase their flushdraw no matter what and lots of players with an Ace will see the turn. I would like to see the turn cheaply, when an 8 or 9 comes you get extra outs and the situation changes! If an overcard comes let it go.
In this situation raising wouldnt help. If u have 3 or 4 limpers you cant limit the field, because the people just call very much.
I see lots of people overplaying middlepairs like TT or JJ. They even reraise preflop!
