Since looking at my stats in PT and finding I need to ramp up my aggression this is the type of poker I've been trying to play (it is working!) but I have a few questions.
1) When do you determine whether to take the free card in a flush draw. Say on the flop you have 4 to your flush and you are in the last position and it is checked to you. Do I bet here if I have 2+ opponents (pot equity edge?). What if you are in early position? Do you just check/call fearing a raise?
2) Board is J 8 4 and you hold something dumb like 8 3. Are you pulling off a bet/raise here to protect your hand? I seem to lack the balls to play the middle pair bet/raise to protect since people just seem to call it anyways. It's a little easier if I hold an overcard though.

1) it depends.
2) fold. A8 or K8 would be different.

1. On the flop you want to try and get as much of their money in the pot as humanly possible. Bet/raise/ reraise if you can. The more money the better. On the turn contemplate the free card play, with only one card to go you dont want to spend that much more money seeing one card. If you have one pair and a 4 flush then bet the turn as well, otherwise, take the free card. If there are 4 or more opponents on the turn as well bet out and build the pot. But don't raise.
2. Not usually, I may check/call as long as I have pot odds here. Also, your position helps a lot with a hand like A8, as well as the raisor's position. Your hand is likely to be good if its checked around to an LP bettor.

You should consider your chances of winning when if you miss your flush. If I have an Ace and/or overs, gutshot, etc. I'm more inclined to play my draw fast. If all I'm drawing to is the flush, I tend to play it slower.
Consider 8 7 from the blinds on a flop of A J 4 , are you winning the most and losing the least by jamming this one 3 or 4 way?

It depends on the size and texture of the field. I might bet out, I might check/fold, I might check planning to raise an aggro button bet but fold to anything else.
