you hold Qd6c at SB.

Everyone folds to the button, who raise.

You re-raise (just to test if he's stealing)

BB folds, button calls.

Flop comes JdTd9d, giving you a great hand.

1) Do you bet out?
2) Is the re-raise pre-flop acceptable if played occasionally?

Q high is not a great hand. This is a great draw. But yes, you bet it. and 3 bet it. And keep going unless you bust completely.

PFR is fine versus someone who likes to steal. If villain has not been habitually targeting you, I'd just as soon let it go.

Q: how much money do you want to put in the middle with Q6?
A: $0!

I love the raise if you're playing against someone who you percieve to be stealing. You gotta send a message and the message needs to be: "Don't dick around with me, buddy!"

Right now you're in a good spot, with 14 outs so here you're better than 50% to win the hand with 2 to come. So you should be betting and raising.

But remember, you're playing the man and not the board. So you need to be aggressive and try to get him on his heels, and willing to toss his cards. That usually requires you to hit the raise/reraise button if you're last to act, or hit the check/raise button if you're first to act on the flop and the turn, and bet out the river. Those types of actions show strength and usually put someone on his/her heels.
The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

as people have said, preflop isn't great.

On the flop get as many bets as you can in. Bet/3betting is usually the way to go.
