It might be idiotic, but after about 30 omaha sessions I'm starting to think there are crazy swings in the games, much crazier than hold 'em.

I tend to get a gorgeous streak of winning about 4 buyins, or just not hitting a hand.

Played a quick 70 hand 6max (with 4 players playing normally) session today, had the best hand 4 times. This has happened to me quite a few times now.

Is this just pure luck? Or does Omaha genuinely have huge swings?

Since most hands the biggest edge you can have is like 60/40 the swings are certainly going to be larger.

Probably the game with the most varience that is played online. Minus weird games like triple draw, but at least its played limit.

There is actually situations when you can fold the nuts on the flop and be correct to do so. If I pot the flop get raised and another raise or call in there I would be willing to fold a hand like the nut straight unless I had redraws or good reads. Having a straight with no redraws against top set and a flush draw is a bad spot to be in.

No way;No Limit Hold Em and to a lesser extend Limit Hold Em have more swings. The point of O8 is to wait for situations where your edge is HUGE and apply it to the max (whereas in NL Hold Em you are applying smaller edges many times, and Limit Hold Em where you are essentially practicing a science).

This depends on the manner in which you won the pots-were you drawing to the nut flush with a wraparound straight draw 5 way and hit? Did you lock up the nut low and freeroll to the straight to scoop? Or did you get it all in on the flop with just Top Set/Top Straight with no low draw to protect at least half the pot in case you lose?

Some questions to ask....

Were not talking about O8, which is probably one of the lower varienced games. Were talking about PLO. LHE has way more swings than NL and its not even close.

I guess an argument could be made either way;but in Limit Hold Em you can't lose your entire stack to a set, and in No Limit you can push people off draws and get it all in preflop with AA.

But yeah O8 is the new goldmine.SCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOP
