PokerRoom PL25 5 card draw. The blinds are .25/.25

BB has $25, I have him well covered.

I open for $1 with 5s full of 4s

SB folds, BB calls.

BB draws 1, I stand pat.

BB donks pots for $2.5, what's my play?

Raise the size of the pot probably. A completed flush or straight seem most likely, since he'd probably reraise with two pair or trips, and also since those hands fill up fairly infrequently.

Just out of curiosity, is he bad enough to bet out here with less than a straight? I would try to get him all-in if he's capable of committing his full stack with less than a boat here.

The problem I had with raising is that I'm in a world of hurt if he 3-bets, yet the play is erratic/fishy enough that I have to call. So I wussed out and just called. He had either a straight or flush and MHIG.

Funny playing big bet poker without the concept of the nuts. Although I ended up stacking one guy when I caught Quads vs his Jacks full.

I would never really be worried about a bad player merely calling a raise before the draw, drawing one, betting out and then reraising after you raise with a pat full house. I think that by just calling you're costing yourself too much money when he has what he's most likely to have, a straight or flush. If he can beat 5's full, oh well. You got unlucky but played your hand well.

Also, check-raising a a player with a pat hand with a full house higher than 5's full should be pretty standard after the draw. I think even fish would probably recognize that this is the best line for them.
