Is this reasonable? I know I risk getting outdrawn, but it seems like letting all the players put in bets all the way to the river is the way to get the most money in the pot. I don't think most people are going to call a raise with this flop.

PokerStars 1/2 Hold'em (6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4, J.
UTG calls, 1 fold, CO calls, Button calls, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 9, 2, 6 (5 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, CO bets, Button folds, SB calls, Hero calls, UTG calls.

Turn: (4.50 BB) 9 (4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, CO bets, SB calls, Hero calls, UTG calls.

River: (8.50 BB) A (4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG bets, CO folds, SB folds, Hero raises, UTG calls.

Final Pot: 12.50 BB
TylerK: its just gambling if i want to worry about money i'll go to work lol

I like the flop call, I might raise the turn since you can get 2 BB's here (from CO and SB). Then lead any non-club river.

assuming somebody with a bigger club is calling you down they have a 30% chance of catching another club. did you get 30% more money by calling rather than raising? maybe a cheap turn card. i'd start firing on the turn though.

That's what I was trying to do...get the most money possible in the pot. I'm looking through the hand trying to figure out where I can raise without blowing most of the players out of the hand, but I just don't see it. Ideas?

EXACTLY. Why would you want to let the Q, K, and A free to chase the pot that beats you. In a way, I dislike flopping non-nut flushes because you risk building a pot only to lose it. But in every instance you must raise and reraise with the best of them because in a multipot, the Ace and King should be building the pot for you.

You also need to consider the chance of having a worse hand play back at you and/or still getting calls from pairs, 2pr, sets and big clubs.

Is the flop check/call ok, or should I just lead out the flop and see what develops?

Edit: As an aside, I feel that my game has been a little too ABC lately, so I'm trying to consider how much deception I may or may not want to add to my game.

Deception is over-rated and your ABC game probably still needs work anyway. For what it's worth, I get more of my deception via Shania. I give a little extra action in some marginal spots, get all kinds of "you what with what?" comments then get even more action back when I have a hand.

A good ABC games beats Party 2/4 for 2BB/100.

If you want to start moving beyond ABC, pay attention to your opponents and look for better situational plays.
