I was just wondering if the level of players is any better at 1/2. I will be Br'd for 1/2 shortly and was wondering if I should jump up there after playing .5/1 for about a week. I can't say I've been "winning" playing .5/1 but it hasn't been all loss just a bunch of big + and - swings. Am I jumping too quick? Should I just bonus whore more and try to get br'd for 2/4?

I'd recommend a short stint at 1/2. It's a totally different game from .5/1 and 2/4. You may want to try your hand at 1/2 6max and work on your shorthanded game for a bit too.

Most of my 1/2 play has come at sites other than Party.

I would say stick around .5/1 for a while longer and build some insurance into your bankroll. The players aren't really that much better across the board. You will find some good tables, but overall they aren't that much better.

Exponentially. I never could beat them and I'm not going to try again.

I play 2/4 - 3/6 limit and $100 and $200 NL at Pacific now profitably. I will never return to the hell of 1/2 at Party again.

I am planning on trying the $25 and $50 NL games at Party though with the April 6th reload bonus.

Ya I dunno, I might go back to UB for awhile and play .5/1 there since I have a $100 bonus sitting there. Just to check how my game really is doing. I've always been +$ when playing at UB. I have about 700 raked hands left at party before I clear my $150 bonus and get my free poker tracker. I don't really need to sit at one place to build my BR, I have so many sites that I haven't visited yet that I can bonus whore at.

I think today I'm gonna just try to join games with average pot sizes and see how that goes. Try and get away from the variance and play some solid poker.

1/2 at party fucking blows.

be prepared to get checkraised, checkraised, checkraised, checkraised, checkraised, and then to add insult to injury, raked up the wazoo.

seriously, the techniques of SSH do NOT work against the TAGGs at 1/2. you need to use HPFAP techniques here because it plays like a 10/20 game.

I have never felt more welcome in a thread. I too have been been stung by the 1/2 party tables. They totally demoralize you after a while. They play like there's some kind of bonus for seeing more flops than anyone else.

I'll be playing 0.5/1 to clear my empire reload, the other day i had a $100 initial at poker now and cleared $100 of profit in about 4 hours, for $200 in total, very satisfying. 25BB/hr + 25BB/hr niiiice

Its the rake structure not the players that really make it tougher to beat. The play is about the same as 2/4 but the rake takes away a larger portion of your winnings.

For what it's worth, I had a lot of trouble beating the rake in 1/2 6 max. Then again, I didn't try for very long...

Wow. Ditto, I mean exactly. I'm putting $500 in tomorrow. I think I'll step downward, with Legend, rather than upward

i tried the .5/1 ... i profit, but the swings are larger then 25 NL games.

1/2 on UB was working out perfect for me, i would double my buyin in 2 hours.

i'll give 2/4 a go for a buyin or two and see how it goes.

Not to get off topic here, but being the loose site that it is, I've found that on Pacific Poker there's a nice pleasant gap between 2/4 and 3/6. You don't get sucked out at 3/6 even close to as often. I think it's something about that 6 dollar turn bet that scares the begesus out of those weak hands that stick around to suck you out at 2/4. 3/6 at Pacific makes me happy. It rewards good poker over and over again.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Dang I am pwning the .5/1 -- but I'll readily admit I'm catching some of the tastiest boards I've ever seen. $56 over about 180 hands...

lol inc. bonus it could come to 40BB/100

The pacifc 3/6 plays like .5/1 or 1/2 on party. I play 4/8 and 5/10 over there and it is like a 2/4 table to me.

Very interesting...(downloading Pacific)...maybe I'll check that out.

EDIT: BTW--I just checked Pokertracker.com, and Pat just released the Pacific upload patch...woo hoo!

--------------

update: people are chasing flush draws against pot odds, UTG raising with Q4s ... this table is a frickin aquariam.
