Which level is more profitable?

I just started 3/6 a few days ago and am now contemplating going back down to 2/4. The rake is more at 3/6 and the players seem significantly better. I was making 3.5BB/100 and now only pulling 2BB/100.

Any reasons party set up the rake to be so weird?

If you feel that you can beat 2/4 for a better rake than you can beat 3/6 for, including the rake etc. then you could definitely consider staying at 2/4. However, it doesn't sound like you have had many hands at 3/6 yet.

If you just started playing 3/6 a couple days ago, the win rate number you posted is entirely meaningless, so don't take that into account.

Now if you feel you are actually being outplayed at 3/6 as compared to 2/4, then you should probably move back down unless you feel that staying at 3/6 will allow you to gather helpful experience.

Personally, I don't limit myself to one set of stakes. I am currently bankrolled for up to 3/6, and I play both 2/4 and 3/6...I'll scan tables at both levels and pick the best tables of the group, regardless of the specific stakes (more often than not the 2/4 tables are easier, but sometimes there are really soft 3/6 tables and sometimes there are really tough 2/4 tables).

I was just about to post this same topic.

I was playing for about 3 months 50/1 and 1/2 and it always seemed like I was just barely making a profit. The largest portion of my winnings came from bonus whoring. I once had a huge negative swing, then about a month ago I decided to play 2/4 and suddenly I started making enormous profits.

Now, I make just over 2BB per hour, which is of course 2x what I could have made at 1/2.
I unfortunately lost all of my PokerTracker stats, but there must be something different about the level of play at 2/4 than 1/2 as I am playing the same.

It seems like at 1/2 and lower people call w/anything. Not as many bettors, just calling machines. So when I make a monster, I would only get a caller or two, and not make a big pot. OR people would call w/Mp no kicker and catch crap cards on the river to take the small pots.

However, at 2/4 there is more aggressive play, and the pots are much bigger so it seems like the few monsters I get, I'm making 3x off of them than I was at 1/2.

Now, I'm considering 3/6 and if my profits w/continue w/ and increase of $4 per hour.

Does anyone else have any theories or suggestions on why this would be? or if this continues when you play 3/6? My style is word for word from Lee Jones Low Limit book.
