Villian is fishy and has $1.2 left after 3-betting the turn.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Fnord is BB with A, 3. CO posts a blind of $3.
3 folds, MP2 calls, CO (poster) checks, 2 folds, Fnord checks.

Flop: (3.33 SB) A, 8, 6 (3 players)
Fnord checks, MP2 bets, CO folds, Fnord calls.

Turn: (2.66 BB) 6 (2 players)
Fnord checks, MP2 bets, Fnord raises, MP2 thinks.... 3-bets, Fnord calls...

Well either he's a real fish and you ahead by miles or else you way behind. Since he only got a dollar left and you called him fishy, you had to call.

But why didn't you CR on the flop?

Was looking for a safe card and thinking about check/calling all the way. If a diamond hits, I probably check/fold. The board pairing gives me a good chance to split with another Ace, so I thought I'd get my money in.

He's not folding anyhow, if he's fishy, there's a good chance that he's beat... I don't think you fold here.
