Its tough. I think you're entirely right, this raise was putting good money into a bad spot. At best I split, at worst I lose to a boat.

I don't know anymore, though. 5/10 is changing drastically.

I like the river raise. UTG was sensing weakness on your turn check and could be firing anything. Also HU, he will call you with many combinations you beat; I don't think you can assume you are splitting here, and if you are, you don't lose anything by the raise.

Bet the turn when the board pairs.

While I don't mind a bet on the turn, I personally prefer a turn check against an aggressive opponent (and then autocall river UI).

The river raise is questionable, but I think I raise it too. He could just be taking a stab at it with a small pair/trips or nothing at all because of your expressed weakness on the turn. Then again I enjoy getting stupid agro sometimes. Here I think it's close enough that raising and calling are similar in EV, so if raising is a mistake I don't think it's a big one.

99% sure I don't raise only time I might is if the rake was already capped going into the river...

An Ace doesn’t fold, you only get 3 bet by a bettor hand, and only hand that calls and you win is a 4 and it doesn’t have A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in it... Only 1 I think you take the whole pot against (maybe a couple other combinations if you have reads)

22, 33, 44, 55, 24, 34, 45, 6x he wins

Ax you chop... I just think you pay the rake WAY to often by raising this spot w/o a VERY good read to do so...

Now if the rake is capped which I can’t tell if it is or not from this HH… then I might do it but still probably not, seems like a chop or lose situation most of the time, I don’t think the couple times you win are going to make up for the times you lose, and times you chop it has done nothing…

Isn't the rake almost always capped by the river at 5/10?
