So a few weeks back I played a partners tournament. My partner sat down and played limit holdem, then when the blinds changed I sat down and played O8b. It was a 'survivor' tourney, which meant that the payout structure is that of a satellite, but with cash prizes.

The payouts were 4k,4k,4k,$222 per team and there were 4 teams left.

The stacks were as follows:
BU 75k (me)
SB 40k (wierd loose-passive donk)
BB 45k (good player)
UTG 25k (ok player)

The limit was 8k-16k
UTG ships 25k, there's 12k in the pot from the blinds and no antes.

I look down at :Ad::Js:

since you're AI even if he has a 'bad' hand you aren't a big favorite, hands run really close in O8. KT64 is 57/43 (you fav obv), 55/44 vs AT46. Even against AT53 it's 60/40. Also it would suck if someone behind you has A2xx/A3xx and UTG has a high hand.

so given all that I would pass and hope someone gets broke/crippled next few hands. If you end up having to gamble you can always do it when you get down around 40k and it won't be a spot much worse than this, and if you are first in it will probably be better.

I actually did call this. I figured it was really hard for someone to scoop against this hand and he was probably shoving randoms. He had tstc6h5s, scooped and we chopped the tourney 4 ways.

I questioned it for days afterward and used a calculator to check where we stood. He was about 25% to scoop with something in the low 40s equity. It seems to me if I fold a 4 way chop would still be the most likely result.
