Hello dudes. I've just found this site recently and am very interested. However, I've no idea what you're all taking about!! What is all the 2bb/100 and stuff? Is there a post somewhere that will explain some of the terms?
I've been playing poker for around 3 years now and have decent wins at no-limit. However, I've won myself a place in a limit tourney, probably around 600-700 other players - how do I approach this strategically in comparision to a no-limit tourney?
Are there any good limit tourney books? I think there is some good info on this site (if only I could understand it!!)

I'll leave the lingo explanations to the limit junkies.

those are only limit ring games.

i am pretty sure there is no book dedicated to limit tourney strategy, because there just isnt a whole lot of limit tourneys around. But if anything is going to help you get the books already suggested.
for terminology:

Thanks for the help - but heres what I meant by "terminology".
(taken from another post)
Hands: 4764
VP$IP: 15.22
VP$IP SB: 22.95
Won $ @ SD: 60.33
PFR: 6.92
Agg Factor: 2.29/2.58/2.38 2.40
Folded to river bet: 49.19
BB/100: 4.11
Whats that all about then? I assume some kind of poker software reading.... but the key question is will this software actually help me become a better limit player?

Hmmm... I see a probable copyright violation here. I should get some sort of royalty for reprinting...
You are correct these are stats from the Poker Tracker software. It is an invaluable tool (IMO) to help you improve your game.
Here's the website http://pokertracker.com/. It's not free I think it is $55. But it pays for it self...

Thanks - I might give it try. Just to blow my own trumpet a bit the limit tourney that I won into is the PartyPoker.com Million - yes $10,000 buyin and 7 days cruise for 2! I won my seat via a series of sats - $8 investment to begin.
Strange thing though is that plenty of people will be in the same boat (excuse the pun) as me - very good no-limit players but limit fish.
I need a crash course in limit, however, is there much point in me playing the 0.5/1 ring games? I doubt it - level of skill in the PPM will be much higher. I dont have a large bankroll - should I risk a couple of days on the 2/4 tables or stick to limit MTT's for some experience?

In limit hold'em these terms refer to the betting progression in each round of betting.
So, for a typical game with a three raise limit betting round, you can have the initial bet (i.e calling the big blind amount), initial raise, the 3-bet and the cap.
e.g. so in say a $2/4 limit game the first person to call the big-blind amount of $2 limps/calls/bets $2, then if that gets raised the bet is now $4, if it gets raised again to $6 its a '3-bet', and if it gets raised again, we say that the betting for that round has been capped ('cap' for short somtimes you'll hear 'cappucinno' as a colloqialism too) at $8.
