Hello all.... I'm fairly new to the site..... so first off I just wanted to say "Hello!" I've been lerking around reading posts for a few weeks and really like the site. Seems to have some strong members and an active member interaction/participation (outside of just forums).

Well anyway... I'm extreemly new to shorthanded play and looking to learn it (typically play 5/10 & 10/20 Limit Full Ring Games). I've read through Hpyer's 6-max guide on here and several articals from this this link. I plan to continue reading and studying the link articals as well as re-reading and making sure I completely comprehend Hyper's guide. But in the mean time, I would love some real-time hand analysis. Please critique this.

Hand 1 - $10/$20 Limit Holdem Ring Game - 4 players

Pre-flop: (4 players) Hero is BB with J J
UTG raises, Button 3-bets, SB folds, Hero caps, UTG calls, Button calls.

Flop: T 5 K (9.5SB, 3 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls, Button calls all-in $9.

Turn: 7 (4.75BB, 2 players + 1 all-in - Main pot: 4.75BB)
Hero bets, UTG calls.

River: 6 (6.75BB, 2 players + 1 all-in - Main pot: 4.75BB, Sidepot 1: 2BB)
Hero checks, UTG checks.

Weak River??????

I was thinking that UTG would most likely call (or possibly c/r) if I was beat and fold what I could beat. And I would rather try for a free showdown and most likely have to call 1 bet, rather than make a bet hand possibly have to call a c/r. But I guess maybe I shouldn't think that way shorthanded. Middle pair will very, very often be good... and UTG could very easily be calling down with middle pair (Tens). What do you think?

Hand 2 - $10/$20 Limit Holdem Ring Game - 3 players

Pre-flop: (3 players) Hero is Button with 6 A
Hero raises, SB folds, BB 3-bets, Hero calls.

Flop: 6 9 Q (4.5SB, 2 players)
BB bets, Hero raises, [colo=#cc0000]BB 3-bets[/color], Hero calls.

Turn: 8 (5.25BB, 2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

River: Q (7.25BB, 2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

Stupid?????????

BB seemed overly aggressive, but didn't I didn't seem him showdown yet.

Hand 3 - $10/$20 Limit Holdem Ring Game - 4 players

Pre-flop: (4 players) Hero is UTG with A K
Hero raises, Button folds, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: 3 3 5 (6SB, 3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB folds.

Turn: 4 (4BB, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets

Typical?????????????

Hand 4 - $10/$20 Limit Holdem Ring Game - 4 players

Pre-flop: (4 players) Hero is BB with 6 6
UTG raises, 2 folds, Hero calls.

Flop: J A 7 (4.5SB, 2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero raises, UTG calls.

Turn: 2 (4.25BB, 2 players)
Hero bets, UTG.....

Stupid????????????

************************************************** **************
Hand 5 - $10/$20 Limit Holdem Ring Game - 4 players

Pre-flop: (4 players) Hero is BB with Q 8
UTG folds, Button calls, SB folds, Hero checks.

Flop: Q 6 K (2.5SB, 2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

Turn: 4 (2.25BB, 2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

River: 9 (4.25BB, 2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero calls.

Stupid River Call????

************************************************** **************
Hand 6- $10/$20 Limit Holdem Ring Game - 3 players

Pre-flop: (3 players) Hero is SB with 8 A
Button calls, Hero raises, BB folds, Button calls.

Flop: 9 9 A (4SB, 2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

Turn: T (3BB, 2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

River: T (5BB, 2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero calls.

Another Stupid River Call?????????????????

Please take a quick look at these hands and critique them. I am badly in need of advice on my shorthanded game. I love to play agressively (something often got me in trouble at full ring games)... but I think I'm using shorthanded play as an excuse to go overboard at times and boarder on reckless. I'm trying to find a good balance of I guess what you would call "selective aggression".

Let me know what you think of my efforts so far..... but be gentle! lol...

Thanks! And I look forward to actively participating in the FTR Community!

Thanks again!!

I dont play much limit, but common sense tells me to just c/c river on hand 4/5, save yourself a bet when you are (probably) beat...

I like the aggression on hand 3, AKhigh can be good alot as ive learned from jeff against the right opponents, hand 2 looks like a pretty dumb call down I probably muck turn or even raise/fold on the flop doesnt seem so bad. I like hand 1 (I assume you were going to call a river bet)

Welcome to FTR, and jeff or any of you limit higherups if i screwed up my novice analysis please let me know

elipsesjeff is an unknown quantity at this point
Hand 1: I think this is a trap you'll find a lot of players get into, and a read here helps more than not. I think you are good here and I bet trying to build the sidepot. If it was HU and no sidepot involved, i can see checking the river to an aggressive opponent.

Hand 2: Again, a read here is necessary. What does your raise accomplish on the flop? No J or Q is folding and if you were going to take this hand to showdown then I would try and do it as cheaply as possible.

Hand 3: Standard, probably call down a raise as well if there was one on the turn, depends on the opponent tho.

Hand 4: Kinda standard but it depends. You could deviate here and 3bet preflop which IMO makes the hand play a lot easier. The way you played it, that flop is pretty nasty and it would depend on the preflop raiser's raising standards for me to check/raise this flop. You'll find that the check/raise on the flop gets little respect.

Hand 5: I'm not folding the river to a raise but I can't see checking here either. I can see him having a K here a lot, if he was a TAG i'd check to him though and anyone will to throw away one more BB with air I could see that too.

Hand 6: I don't see betting this river either. Your kicker blows, i'd check and try to induce a bluff.
