i have been running a review group over in the microstakes/beginners stuff for a few months. it's been helpful, to some degree. mostly for accountability reasons. it has kind of fallen off, though, with my switch to LHE, as they play NL.

i wanted to guage the interest for a LHE "group." i guess i am more soliciting the help of some of you regs that play higher stakes.

it has been discussed, through email, that we could do something with videos. to me, that sounds really like it would help the most because we could view an entire session instead of one HH at a time. i tend to do things because of how i may be perceived, and that is not always abc stuff (make a loose call, 3bet light, etc). it would certainly help me if others could hear my thoughts as the occurred instead of me trying to remember and write them into an HH.

any interest? or any other ideas as to the direction this could/would go?

i think stats posting is rather pointless on a monthly basis because no one really changes that drastically, and the samples from month to month are pretty small.

who's in?

Why don't we just post video links here (like aspidkas [sp?] did) and whoever wants to look at them and comment can. I think 20-30 min is reasonable.

KoRnholio will become famous soon enough
I am partial to HHs myself. There are a number of problems I have with videos:

- time consuming to watch, I'd much rather come here and post my thoughts quickly on a few HHs

- in a long session 90%+ of hands are "standard" and don't help much

One benefit is that there will probably be hands that the player making the video thinks are standard, but which may not really be. I know I probably have a bunch of hands that I play a certain way that I don't post, but could be improved on.

Does the HH tournament trimmer on FTR here work with LHE ring games? I think that would be a great asset to assess a session.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

part one is EXACTLY why i liked the vid idea. not all the time, but until we get a good one where we can get some critiquing in. me playing my first session ought give you enough to critique...lol. i agree that 90% are standard, but it would be nice to hear that "90% of your play is standard," too.

i agree, DDog, that 20-30 should do it. no sense in dragging one out past 30 minutes.

when/if i figure it out, i may post a "series" of sessions for review. something like 2-4 vids. all taken at different times, not one right after the other. but, one where i run hot, and one where i run cold. that way we can maybe introduce/discuss image. i think it would be helpful to get responses to those, too.

as for the "trimmer," i think weaktight.com allows you to post an entire session of HHs. i will maybe give that a try and trim out the unimportant folds.

good ideas. keep the thoughts coming, if possible.

I'm all in for this
One of the benefits i see in the videos is that you learn a lot not only from the comments on your own game, but from watching other ppl plays and hearing their thought processes. It could make a great "library" for newbies too. They can watch the videos, see the comments on the forum and really improve their games.
Image, table dynamics, and many aspects of the game are hard to define in a few lines when posting a HH. All this can be seen on a video.

I'm not sure watching a 25min video is really more time consuming than reading 10 posts and writing your comments but as Dog said, you can watch/comment them when/if u have time.

Those "standard" hands are important. Many hands you would not bother to post may have leaks and not be so standard and until someone sees it and points it out it may be hard to find on your own.

I've just made comments on the first session posted by Chopper and think a video would have been faster, easier, and more enjoyable to comment. Also, i dont get to hear his thoughts during the hands.

you pretty much nailed them with your responses, though. i think you knew where my head was through most of the hands.

thanks again.
