Hey guys,

Well I'm pretty new to PLO. I generally play 2/5-10/20NL but I decided to give PLO a shot. I started at 50nl a couple days ago and did alright, so decided to make a quick on move up to 200nl.

Probably dumb to move up, but I don't mind spewing a bit. Anyways, I have nooo idea what is standard in this spot at all. No real reads on this guy (don't have PT Omaha so no HUD stats either)

Sorry if this is completely completely standard (in terms of a fold or push)... I just have no idea. Seems like ppl only play the nuts in this game!

Oh and my limp PF from EP was because I generally feel like if I get raised on any flop I have to fold. But if I flop my top set, everyone folds anyhow. Maybe this is bad logic.

Cryptologic
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
Blinds: $1/$2
5 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
Hero: $368.85
CO: $250.20
Button: $429.95
SB: $214.10
BB: $403

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is UTG with
Hero calls, 2 folds, SB calls, BB checks.

Flop: ($6, 3 players)
SB bets $4, BB calls, Hero raises to $22, SB raises to $80, BB folds, Hero ??

Maybe I'm just being a weaktight omaha player, but I feel like if I raise AAxx EP I get several callers and if I bet and get raised I need to fold. If I bet and get called and a scare card turns I need to c/f, and if I barrel and get called my hand prob isn't good anyhow.

But I feel safe if I spike my set, and then I bet into several players and they couldn't fold fast enough.

I guess I'm missing the value of these AAxx hands (or playing them wrong) postflop, if i don't get an oppurtunity ot just jam with them preflop?

ok, flop is tough. I don't play that high, so I guess they have 55 or 45 a lot. Although we're ahead of any other 4. Could also have wrap/oesd+fd. We're never way ahead. But since it's a limped pot it sucks to stack off on the flop.

You have to raise AAxx from EP. You balance by also raising other hands, 789T, etc. If someone else raises, you want to be able to come over the top strong. You can't if you limp/3bet. Also, you should get a couple more folds and fewer people seeing the flop. Also if they fold flop you've gotten more value out of your hand.

This hand also has the NF potential. So you don't have to just hit your set, you would also be really happy with an unconnected 2 heart flop.

Thanks for the comments swiggidy.

Yah I guess what I have to drill into my head is that its hard to really be way ahead in PLO.. as compared to hold em. But yah stacking in a limped pot in omaha is prob worse even than stacking in a limped pot hold 'em I guess.

I guess practice makes perfect in figuring out these ranges!
