Could one of you guys plz give me some numbers for table selection. I am looking for the best numbers for Players seeing the flop, Pot Size (in BBs), and Hands/hr. I have just finished reading SSHE twice and I am still playing FR. I know I must switch the 6max once I get up to 1/2, 2/4, and higher, however, I am not sure how to pick the best tables out. I have tried some 6max and I have not done as well as I would like. I think table selection is part of the problem, as well as drawing thin. I need to play a lil tighter at these tables

Thanks guys

Your seat is more important than "The Table".

Its not really about player seeing flop or pot size or hands/hour. I mean, yeah lots of players seeing flops is good, usually. Average pot size, the higher the better, obviously. Hands/hour doesn't mean a whole lot, slower tables *can* mean more hands going to showdown which is good.

The best way to select tables is to sit at them. Use pokerAce and play a few orbits. Get some stats on the guys on your right and on your left. Then decide if its worth staying. Repeat.

You can also find the fish by buddylisting them. Buddylist bad players, and follow them around. There are supposedly programs that can automate this to a degree, but I've never used them.

The most common method is, say youre three tabling. Pull up three random tables. Play a few orbits. Close the worst one, replace with another random table.

After a while you'll build up a pretty good database of multi-tabling rocks and tags, so they'll be the easiest to spot. Can't go wrong putting them on your left.

I agree with euph. I just want to clarify. The important items are (in this order of importance):

1. You want LPs and LAGs on your right (i.e. you want position on them).
2. You want rocks and TAGs on your left.

The general idea is that there is a leftward (clockwise) trend in the flow of money. So you want to sit to the left of where the money is coming from. The money comes primarily from players that play too many hands (loose).

Loose players are good to have position on because you can iso-raise (LPs) or iso-3-bet (LAGs) with your good hands, and go heads up with position and likely better hole cards.

In addition, if you have position on a lot of LPs, you'll be able to play more speculative hands because you will have good odds to limp (or raise for the button or for value) after several other limpers, and you'll be in position (important) against them, making it easy to play these hands post-flop.

You want rocks and other tight players on your left. This is because you want to be able to steal their blinds, but also importantly you want your iso-bets and iso-raises to actually isolate (loose players on your left will just cold call, which is extremely frustrating), and you want your raises after several limpers to buy the button.

Position on a LAG or a couple of fish, with a tight player a seat or two to your left is all you need for the table to be profitable. The rest of the table is not as relevant.

As another FTR memeber said (don't remember who said it or where though), "There is such a thing as a bad seat at a good table." A LAG to your immediate left or TAGs to your immediate right make the seat not even worth it, even if the table as a whole is generally juicy.

Great advice, thanks guys, I guess this means all I need to do is buy some software that tells me how my opponents are playing.
I know I sound like a newb for asking, but which program does this for you?

Thought someone else who knows more about it might post... PokerAce HUD seems pretty popular. It works with PokerTracker--try this link: http://www.pokertracker.com/forum/vi...29ba22d7291684. I've only used the trial version of PokerAce HUD, but I hear it does real time updates if you buy it. $20? I'm sure there are other programs.
