Until yesterday I consideret myself unbeaten in the world of limit hold'em. Ever since I started to record my play I had never had a loosing session. I'd played auround 6K hands with an average of 250 hands pr. session.
So yesterday I was more than ready to go and win some more, but then again who isn't . But mygod did I have to wake up from my dream and face reallity. 271 hands later I was down 13BB and ready to write an email to the paradise support claiming that there must have been some sort of mistake. After a short resses I decided that 13BB was an easy win and I sat down once again.
I'm pretty sure I don't need to tell this since most of you probably have more experience on this subject and all other poker related stuff aswell.
I had 3 wired Kings busted aswell as 2 times of rockets. And need i say that my draws never made it or was already dead.
430 hands later i was at -30BB, and had to write red numbers in my record for the first time...!!!

Yep, it's no fun. But you just need to adjust your expectations and calibrate yourself. Losses of 30BB in one day are relatively common, unfortunately.

In a typical day I have a swing of at least 30BB.

This is why bank roll management and only playing in games that your bankroll can afford are very important. If you were properly bankrolled (not saying you are not) a loss of 30BB wouldn't be the end of the world.

yesterday at 5/10 I played 1700 hands at one point I was down 66BB and by the end of the session break even. Swings are part of the game, get used to them. I flopped the nuts 4 times yesterday and lost all 4 pots ranging from 150-250 dollars. I drag 2 of those, I am way up for the day. You win some you lose some, but 13bb is nothing to sweat over.

Yup that is a typical day... swings around + or - 30 to 40bb easy... when it happens it does suck major ass...

It seems like I start EVERY session down 20 BB so you get used to it after a while. Its actually quite easy, you lose one showdown on each table and you go down a quick 20 BB before you can even sneeze.
Also, 250 Hands is like 1 hour 4 tabling, way too small a sample to really worry yourself over.

Its true I really shouldn't complain about my 30BB downswing.
BECAUSE I WON IT ALL BACK AND MORE TOO IT THE DAY AFTER
And today is looking pretty fine also

Yeah...prepare yourself for bigger swings than that, depending on how aggressive your game is. When you hit your first 100BB swing, then you'll really test your psyche.
What Jeff says is exactly right...20-30BB swings happen to me regularly too. Starting out a session that way really bites, and you just have to keep your head on straight and it will hopefully swing back quickly.

yes limit HE is a swingy game.
the downswings that i recover from, i can handle.
what i really hate are the huge swings in the upward direction that come back and land me just slightly above breakeven.
those piss me off a LOT.
what i often do is quit when i reach +20BB (double my stack), so i can walk away feeling like a winner. i know this has no mathematical meaning in the long run, and that i am merely delaying the statistically inevitable corrective downswing to my next session. but as i said, i am emotionally prepared to handle a session that starts in the negative and to work my way back.
i know myself well enough to realize that i am NOT emotionally capable of winning a huge chip lead then seeing it dribble away to nothing... that just makes me impatient to recover and puts me on tilt.
