Hi guys,
Just was in a gambling mood and decided to play 4-8 at our regular B&M instead of 2-4 for 1 night due to weekend fishy crowd. Net result: lost 89$. considering its just 11 bb i think it went ok. .

the killer of the night was a Kill Pot (becomes 8-16). I was MP1. UTG was the Kill button. UTG+1 called. I raised it to 16. everone fold sand the kill button and UTG+1 calls.
Read: Kill button is a chaser, and have been making trips all night. got a horseshoe up his a**. UTG+1 very aggressive and loves to gamble at times.
Hero has A-K0.

Flop: A-8-9
UTG+1 bets, Hero raises, UTG+1 reraises, Hero calls.

Turn: A-8-9-Q
UTG+1 bets, Hero calls

River: A-8-9-Q-9
UTG+1 bets, Hero calls.

UTG+1 shows 9-9 for quads...ouch.
lost about 72$ just in that hand.

Other hand, Called a raise from a Laggy opponent with KQo.
Flop: A-K-Q
bet the flop, got called by 1 player.
got check raised on the turn by same player and called down from there. He flopped the nut straight

rest was all good. competition not that bad. I didnt play any kill pots, just Taggy approach.

Though cold called 3 hands in 6 hours (1- AQ0, 1-AQs, 1- JJ) all from blinds.

4-8 is out of my bankroll and wont play it as a habit. just wanted to have an experience. will play there again tonight because of the weekend crowd. back to 2-4 from monday !!

If you're well rolled for 2-4, i don't see why taking a shot in a good 4-8 game would hurt you, and an $89 loss is NOTHING at 4-8
take your ego out of the equation and judge the situation dispassionately

NO. Not in a B&M game.
Capping the flop is fine, but if you cap the flop, and he bets the turn, I might find a fold.
Capping the turn is spewing chips.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

Yeah after writing that I thought "No need to cap the turn, just cap the flop"

But 4/8 with a full kill is pushing it.
