Most of the knowledgable players talk about the importance or knowing your opponents pattersn and habits. There are lots of things I think about before checking/betting/folding/raiseing/ reraising, and many have more to do with the opponent than the cards.
I may fold to a bet from JoeBlow, but reraise Johndoe under the "very same" circumstances. Much depends on what their betting patterns, starting requirements, etc have told me about their play.
I also notice that alot of the knowledgebale players seem to multitable ( 3 or 4 tables). I have to admit I just don't get it.
I have some questions?
1. How can the lack of reads make up for the extra action?
2. How can your lack of information on betting patterns by players make up for the extra action?
3. How do you know when to pull off "context-specific" moves like slowplaying or checkraising if you are not focused on the action (players)at just one table?
4. How can you avoid the tempation to "overplay" good hands and "underplay" marginal hands - or just plain "misplay" them because of the number of tables you are playing.
5. Why is not more profitable to take your expericence, knowledge, etc and move op in limits where yiu can bring all your resources to bear at a single table (or two tables, even).
I am not taking shots at multitable players, I just want to know how playing with less information can make this a +EV proposition at 4 tables?.

pokertracker + playerview (or gametime) = no reads necessary
these programs keep track of patterns do you don't have to remember who is agressive, who is tight etc.

Thanks Gabe.. I suspected PokerTracker was a big part in loosness/aggression monitiring, but what about situational betting tendencies.
I mean I know the players who WILL NOT fold down AK under any circumstances, but how can I infer that from raw data?

simple....tighter = less need for reads.
reads are really only important when you have a close decision between calling unprofitably or folding the best hand.
so...if you multitable 8 tables, but have a 13% VPIP you'll always have a very kick ass hand anyways so decisions are easier to make.
consult 2+2's march magazine, interesting article about multitabling, dunno if i agree with some of it tho.
