Flop: (9 SB) 9, 2, 2 (3 players)
SB bets, 1 fold, flopmonkey calls

SB checks, flopmonkey checks

River: (5.5 BB) 8 (2 players)

cap pf... take the initiative and cbet 100%
against only 1villain just calling the 3bet sometimes has some deceptive value, but your pf equity is too big not to cap against 2+ villains

as played i would bet river for value
"could I take out every woman and child in a border town?"

Definitely should have been more aggressive here.

Something like...

Raising the flop, betting the turn
OR
bet the turn and river

cap that shit pre! QQ+/AKs is in EVERY chart as a capping from all positions/all actions range.

what is your read on villains? are they calling to SD on every board? i am inclined to raise this stupid flop and control the pot with initiative from there. (if 3rd guy acts AFTER i do, i definitely raise to screw him out of the pot.) AK may be best right now. it may have 6 outs to beat the pp that is likely betting. you have a bd flush to the nuts, and i doubt 92 is in here with the boat. ISOLATE and increase your winning chances. its limit, the pot isnt going to get so big you cant recover. this is one of the nuances i love about LHE.

hard for me to say what to do on the turn. but,if i had raised the flop, i am popping the turn and heading for a free showdown unimproved (ui). with all the checking and calling, i may be inclined to check behind, too, because they are giving me free cards, too, in a small pot that i dont have any initiative in. but, like we all have said, we arent going to let that happen in the first place.

by the way, flopmonkey, thank you for posting some hands. this is going to be the best way for you to learn how to kick our asses. then, we can complain about how we only screwed ourselves and added to your bankroll.

AK is scary for me if someone else raises pre-flop(this was a tight table), so I feared AA or KK. I wanted to see the flop without contributing much more.
And when I see a flop like this with AK, its very dissapointing. I was hoping for atleast a A or K. I wasnt even sure if AK was theoretically still a strong hand to play with a flop like that.
I know this is not the correct way to think, but just letting you know what was going through my head at the time.

haha, I dont think you guys will ever have to worry about me taking your money...By the time I figure this game out, you guys will be playing 100/200 tables.
I swear I never knew how difficult this game is to learn correctly, Its like learning a whole new language.
Im a pretty good chess player, but I think this game is 10 times more complicated.

Thanks for taking the time to help out a poor fish!

glad you noticed how flawed that line of thinking is. i used to look at AA the same way at a limit table because i was routinely seeing 5 handed flops...and knew the equity was still best, but terrible, for AA in those spots. so, i would wait for a "safe" flop or turn to turn on the jets. wow, what a colossal mistake in logic!!

and, you should be borderline thrilled with that flop. now, at smaller stakes, it is more likely someone holds a random A9s, or worse, but you should still be popping that flop (repping an overpair or the 9) and waiting to see what THEY do.

poker is often times about putting THEM to the test when you dont know where you stand...not about waiting for the nuts first.

and, if you pop that flop with your whiffed AK and they still call, that doesnt mean someone has you beat....necessarily. you may need to convince them with a 2nd shot on the turn. hell, if you hit your A/K on the turn, you will be very happy to fire again. but, until they raise you back, at these levels, i would give too much credit to their calls. they may actually think they have a straight draw....you never know with these guys...lol.

oh, and fyi, chess has to be WAY more complex.

and no worries about the help. thats kind of what the site is designed for...ya know? keep the HHs coming. the limit forum needs new blood from time to time.
