Easy preflop question...

Full ring
ATs-A8s MP1-CO Already 2 limpers ahead of you. Call/Raise/Fold?
Explain some basic table dynamics and reasons for your explanations. Break down positioning as you need for your play.

I've been running into this spot fairly often it seems like. Just like to see how most of you play it...I'll post my answer tomorrow.

Thanks
Superb play sir...I always call 20% of my stack off with a gutshot draw. Excuse me while I race for my wallet.

Youre still fairly EP, I'd limp it. Nothing really wrong with a raise here, but if you hit an A on the flop, your kicker isn't anything amazing, and you're still playing before the LPs. A9s and below, I'm still in flush or fold mode. The AT, for some reason, I'll play stronger.

since this is a speculative hand, you'll want to see the flop as cheaply as possible and you'll want the pot to be as multiway as possible so that you get rewarded when you hit your flush. raising would defeat both these objectives so i would limp and call if it's raised behind.

Raise ATs from any of these positions, table conditions don't often make this a non-raise. It's just such a strong hand with a big equity edge in both multiway and short handed pots.

A9s and A8s really depend on position (MP1 is very different to CO) and the players left to act behind you.

The more tight/aggro the players behind me are the more inclined I am to raise these hands, at 5/10 I would raise A8s in MP1 in this situation. This is because not enough players will limp to give you odds to hit a hand, whereas raising and isolating the limpers will give you lots of folding equity to take the pot down unimproved. Raising also buys you the button which obviously gives you a huge post-flop advantage.

In a loose game like Party 0.5/1 I'd probably limp A8s-A9s in middle position. This is partly because I wont buy the button and I wont isolate the limpers so I don't really gain much folding equity. I think in a loose game you make more money by encouraging more players to enter the pot thereby giving you greater odds to hit than you do pushing what might be a small equity edge by raising.

In the CO after two limpers I'm raising A8s pretty much regardless of the table.

Sure for A8s but be careful calling ATs a speculative hand. It isn't.

Why am I not surprised Fnord?

Anyway...The reason I ask this is because I've been playing a real aggresive style PF with implied type hands...Mainly because I'm playing passive tables where at least 3-4 people are calling after a raise. I kind of wanted to see what people like Phyl and Fnord thought.

I basically have to piggy back with you Phyl...I find I am raising more often when I know that tighter players are behind me to isolate those limpers. Especially when the limpers play too many hands out of position. Usually MP1 and MP2 I'm calling with out reads and later position I'm raising no matter what.
