Hi all ,
I am wondering what people think of micro limits (.02-.04, .10-.20, .25-.50) and if playing them can hurt or help your game or if there are certain adjustments that have to be made playing these types of games that is different from other low limits? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jutah

I don't think it could hurt you.
You're gonna have to adapt to different kinds of games no matter what level you're playing at.

Start at .25/.50. Scrape together $200 and do some smaller bonus whoring. Don't spend time under these limits unless you don't have the roll. There are plenty decent bonuses you could find for $50-$100 that would eventually clear at these levels.
Good luck to you sir.

I like the .05/.10NL.. you can learn your game there. When you make a mistake, it's $10 you lose, not $25.
I play between 4-6 full ring, non fast tables. play the premium hands, play your position, flop sets get PAID.
I played the .01/.02 and the .02/.05 and they seem really bad compared to the .05/.10 tables.

Thanks guys
I am just curious b\c I seem to do well at .25 . 50 by playing pretty tight, but when I drop down to .02 .o4 play the same way it seems that everybody stays in to the end and somebody wins with some junk two pair or 72s flush.

Do you have SSHE by Sklansky. Get that book, play .25/.50 full ring and build your roll using some smaller bonuses. Personally I like PokerStars 100% up to $50. It's a great interface full of fish and has micro stakes. Log 10K hands there at .25/.50, clear the bonus, and reevaluate you bankroll.
I would stay away from .02/.04 b/c for a few reasons. It is easy to develop bad habits, it is very hard to win any money b/c the BB is .04 for god's sakes. Even if you ran ungodly well, say 5BB/100 over 10K hands that would be like $20 profit, not worth it IMO.
I would get yourself fully rolled for .25/.50 ($250 or so) and then change sites and take advantage of another bonus.

Just thought maybe I could chime in with some insight.
Received a limit poker book by accident (Internet Texas Hold'Em by Matthew Hilger) for Christmas (all I asked for was HoH) because they forgot to read the back of the book that describes it as limit poker. I am mainly a small stakes SnG player with a fairly good record.
However, I still read the book and was hooked to the basic strategies. Following most of that book (and probably any book) to the absolute has proved to good for my game of no limit.
I tried my hand at limit (my bankroll was at $40 or so) about a week and a half or so ago. I started at .02/.04, followed the book, lost miserably (about $4 in two days) and reviewed my play a little.
These micro stakes are actually useful somewhat. If you read the players (I use Poker Tracker but the important players to read will become obvious) you can pick out the ones who know what they're doing and the ones who are extra loose or just flat calling stations. So it becomes key that you stick to a 10-15% starting preflop lineup and if you're in ANY pot with more than 3 people don't try ANY moves at all except for maybe the standard building the pot with a monster draw. Very straight-forward play leads to winning at these limits, you just have to watch out for the calling stations and/or weak players reraising you. That means they have you beat unless you have the nuts.
At this point, my bankroll is at $57. I've played about 3,000 of these microstake hands with an average of 5BB/100 at .02/.04 AND .05/.10 (I moved up after 2000 hands of .02/.04). This has been both a confidence booster and a learning experience, and I'm confident I could move on to the next set of stakes when my bankroll gets high enough. Hooray for learning limit.
These low stakes are generally only good for the experience with cards and the limit game, to be honest. The players can be so miserably bad that it may hurt you to try and play them (and by them, I mean play them on an individual level) and cause you to develop bad habits.

After several thousand hands when you know you're not just running good and you're making right decisions a lot of the time and outplaying your opponents I think it's time to move up.
But before you get to that point you need to at least be able to beat your opponents by making better decisions consistently. So you have to get experience at the lower stakes before you go to the higher stakes.
