What is to be accomplished by playing the $0.01/$0.02; $0.02/$0.04; $0.10/$0.20; $0.25/$0.50 and the like?

I recently took up a challenge from some friends that I could not consistently make money at these levels over a 5,000 hand history and starting with a $50.00 BR. I have almost completed this bet and am down about $4.00. Looking at a graph of the history is a lot like looking at a Richter printout of a 9.2 earthquake in progress.

It is apparent they were quite correct. So, again; what is to be learned here other than STAY AWAY? Oh, and that the house will make about $150+ in rake...

I was running 8BB/100 over a 2000 hand sample at the .10-.20 playing my normal .5-1 game. That's quite high over a very small sample, but I'm sure it'd be easy to keep 3-4BB over a long term at these micro stakes.

I normally play NL or NL Tourneys (live mostly). My profile is TA A. I tried several approaches at $0.10/$0.20 from Rock to LA P with no appreciable success.

I am now beyond the original challenge: its personal Dare I ask for advice?

Microlimits are not hard to beat. There is no trick to them. Just play by-the-book ABC poker and don't get cute. The people at the microlimits make huge amounts of mistakes and don't pay any attention, so unless you too are making tons of mistakes, you are probably beating the game, even if your (very short-term) results don't show it.

Yep, by the book (SSH). You can probably safely play Axs and 75% of suited connectors from any position as the pot is rarely raised preflop, with 40-70% of the table playing the hand.

I wouldn't ever try to get tricky and If you're check raised they've got better than TPTK, I've seen guys call down with everything from AA on a raged flop to Quads (obviously weren't paying attention). The point is these guys are super passive, so value bet your strength, and be prepared to fold against solid aggression.

Finished the last 550 hands of my bet today down $8.29. Going back to NLHE tourneys and ring games where civilized folk dwell away from bottom feeders!
I have never experienced such ludicrous in my life. The way to win at these limits is if you have AA, KK, AKs and flop four of a kind or the nut flush - otherwise fold. Because some UTG donk kept 73o to the river for trips or full house, against overcards...
Well you have all heard this diatribe before

Glad to pay off the bet ($200) and move on to the next prop...

Thats rediculous. I DID start with a $50 bankroll and played the microlimits for several tens of thousands of hands.

They were probably the easiest, and most fun, poker days.

Yup same here. I started with $50 14 months ago playing .25/.5 and have since gone pretty far.

Check out my videos at Grinderschool.com

More Full Ring NLHE Cash videos than ANY other poker training site. Training starts at $10/month.
