This is my first orbit at the table. SB is one of the more solid regulars, 28/18.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A, A.
UTG calls, 1 fold, CO calls, Hero raises, SB calls, 1 fold, UTG calls, CO calls.

Flop: (9 SB) 5, 9, 8 (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, CO bets, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, UTG calls, CO calls, Hero caps, SB calls, UTG calls, CO calls.

Turn: (12.50 BB) 5 (4 players)
SB bets, UTG calls, CO calls, Hero calls.

River: (16.50 BB) 9 (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, CO checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 16.50 BB

I put SB on a set, and exactly 88 by the river.

I raise the turn, it was a really good card for you and the other 2 guys don't get to just float around for free. I think SB has a smaller pair in the hole quite often and won't 3-bet the turn with it.

SB maybe has 76 here. But he may be wussing out of a value bet w/ 88 or 85s because the pot is so big and doesn't want to fold.

As for your hand, is there really any question?
There's no other way to play this.

I think when a solid player check/3bets and then leads into 4 players, one of whom capped the flop, you can expect to be 3bet on this turn a lot.

i agree if you raise and get 3 bet then you know for sure where you stand in the hand... same as raise and a call...

if he has a set 88 on the river for 8s full of 9s i think he leads again...

So are you saying you could fold to a threebet? What good is knowing where you stand if you aren't going to act on the information?

unless this guy can 3 bet something other then 88, 5x, 67 then you pretty much know you have 2 outs at best, if he'll 3 bet an over pair then you obvously have the best hand anyways and it's for value to raise...

pot is 15.50:1 to call, if you raise you make it 16.5:1 to the other players, if it gets 3 bet now it's 17.5:1 if at least one guy calls then 19.5:1 plus implied odds if you hit the Ace... giving you like 4bb extra assuming he had the 88, so that's 23.5:1 only need 22:1 to call a 2 outer... you have correct odds to call a 3 bet to hit the 2 outer if it is 3 bet... if it's not 3 bet i think you can figure to be ahead a lot of times...

Anyone think SB has a hand like TJ? Thats possible and the other two donks DONT have the nine or they'd bet that river, if they had a 5 they'd let you know on the turn, I put out a feeler bet here on river just for fun.

OR, do as Fnord said and raise the turn, if you get someone calling then 3/betting, you're as good as dead and can let it go.

I think I can bet/fold this river and not feel too bad about it.
