in my session this happened enough for me to notice and be pissed about it.

all these hands i'm in the BB.
SB is the 50/30 player.
Button is a 50/18 player

button openlimps.
SB raises.
pussy hero either folds or calls.

hero folded for 86s, T6o, 74o
hero calls A7s, A8s, A7o

hmmmm i really shoulda 3bet those suited aces. anyways, SB always bets out. i always fold when i miss.

my gut feeling tells me i'm playing this horribly.

although i do have this gem to show for it...

SB open raises
courageous/idiotic whatever you want hero calls with J3s

flop 2s 3d 2h
SB bets, hero raises, SB 3bets, hero calls

turn 4c
SB bets, hero calls

river 4h
SB bets, hero calls

SB flips over 98o

If you ignore the rake, hero should call with any 2 cards.

vs a 50% PFR.

8,451,783 games 9.742 secs 867,561 games/sec

Board:
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 30.7747 % 30.08% 00.70% { 3c2s }
Hand 2: 69.2253 % 68.53% 00.70% { 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J4s+, T5s+, 96s+, 86s+, 75s+, 65s, A2o+, K4o+, Q7o+, J7o+, T7o+, 98o }

Then factor in the BB will have position on the SB for the rest of the hand (one of the reasons this is flipped when playing heads-up.)

(A)bort, (R)etry, (F)ail?

if it weren't for that heads up hand he woulda took all my money. i did notice that he would fold to any further aggression postflop. he was on a mad rush, winning 30BB in 100 hands.

i'm wondering if going crazy preflop, while playing postflop carefully can be profitable...and how much table image has to contribute to that.

I think 50/30 can be profitable with excellent play otherwise. Especially if it puts people off their games. Most 50+/30+ I see are just as crazy postflop and just spew chips, but a 'good' 50/30 player would take some care to play against. I just don't see 50/30 being nearly as profitable as a tighter game except in special circumstances.

Your gut is right, especially if Button will fold to a 3-bet.
