Attention everyone:
I lost $1000 last night, calmy got up, and went to bed. It didn't bother me in the least. I think yesterday was the biggest accomplishment of my poker career. The money no longer bothers me.
That is all,
Euph.

sorry to hear that.
I remember my first $1k loss in a day. It was pretty nasty. But, after that it all goes uphill from there.
The first one is the worst, but after that you can lose $2k, $6k and if you're extremely lucky even $10k in a matter of a week.
Variance sucks.

No really, it didn't upset me. I didn't even care, I just said, "eh, bed time." and that was that.
I think I'll just leave PT closed while I play for a while. Really, what purpose does it serve to have it open while playing? Watch your VPIP? Mine doesn't change. Watch your W2SD? Ok, maybe. Anything else is just stuff to complain about. "I'm only winning 33% W$@SD!"
*yawn*
I think its better off... off..

Don't you need PT open and collecting new hands in order for your HUD to be reflecting current hands?

I only run my PT in the background so it auto imports so i don't have to mess with it later...
Big swings when they are negative are always a bitch first time it happens... I'm not sure what you meant by watch your VP$IP, personally I don't have enough time to watch anything but my tables if I have more then 2 open and even with 2 I’m not staring at things other then trying to get some fell for the players... I don’t use PE or another type program that always quick table selction once I’m at a table because at low stakes you don’t need it and it helps me determine the changing structure of the tables manually so I don’t have to really on a crutch to do it for me... I use Poker Ace HUD but more for the mucked cards then anything... try it some time after finding a good table pay attention to players instead of stats, I have heard of many instances where 6max players actually played more effectively by manually taking notes and watching table structures change... Just a thought...

sorry for the downswing man. i had a $1k downswing earlier too....all within 2 hours 4 tabling 5/10 6max. let's just say it felt different compared to my $130 downswing when i first started poker and $130 was my bankroll. i didn't feel anything either. but it was like...wow i just lost $1k! i felt like i shoulda felt something. like being really pissed off or blaming it on variance or something. but i didn't. i just accept that this was going to happen sooner or later, and i accepted it.
since then i started practising table selection. i shoulda did this a lot sooner...

I can only hope to reach this point. I still think in terms of "only losing a hundred here and there."
It's sounds awful to anyone outside of gambling (it looks like addiction) but removing the value of the chips from your mind really helps.

That could be a contributing factor, but its probably the least-contributing factor. A bad run of cards will happen no matter which or how many cards I'm playing at a time. Guess they just come faster that way.
But you're right, I'll probably drop to one for a while.

Or, you're not playing long enough to finish break even.

Fair point. Its just a 100 bet swing in 570 somethin hands. Hey, its all one long session, I'm not worried about it, but I am going to cut back a bit.

I only have it open when I want to post hands so I can just see them import and paste them into notepad
otherwise the pokerroom database takes care of the rest since it logs hands

You want to hear somethin real sick -- I've only played 2.5k hands at 10/20 -- and even with this 100 bet drop, I'm still beating 1bb/100. This drop was essentially gaurenteed with how I was running. I posted either 9 or 10 solid 400+ days in a row.
