A general question, as I am wondering if I am getting the maximum when I flop a small set.
An example from last night-- I called with 22 in the SB in an unraised pot, 4 others in the pot, flop came A2x rainbow. I bet out and everyone folded. In hindsight I should have slowplayed this one.
What do you all do when you flop a small set and an ace or king come on the flop (that isn't 2 suited)? Is that even a consideration in you decision?

Bet out almost everytime. Slow-playing just misses bets on most boards.

Yah, I think the tactic should run similar too NL. With an ace on board, by leading with a set you can almost always get an ace to raise behind you and build your pot. No sense trying to trap when the opponent has a hand he may think is best.

Your thought process reguarding poker problems is horribly flawed.

From time to time you might consider slowplaying top set, but you should almost always play bottom set fast.

I think it's also a factor that there might be a straight draw out there :D
not likely, but since he limped someone might be in there with 34s out of the blind

The OP got posted twice, with 2 different sets of replies. Sorry about that.
My OP looks like I was results oriented and was whining about taking only a small pot with a big hand. Actually, my point was to ask if fastplaying a bottom set might not always be best when being first to speak, escpecially if an ace or king came out (and why or why not). I never really stopped to think about that until this hand. Anyway, after the comments here, I feel better about it and am glad to see the majority here would have done the same as I had. I keep having to re-orient myself that in the low limit games, deception gains very little and gives away a lot.
