READ: villains behind me were calling raises cold every time. the one immediately behind me was incredibly passive. i figure my hand only beats a bluff on the river based on the action of the hand. needless to say, i was shocked beyond belief that i had winning chances here. what a disaster this was on top of an already poor session. i was just certain i didnt have odds to call here to a bet and call.

Stacks:
UTG ($10)
UTG+1 ($29.85)
UTG+2 ($21.60)
Hero ($32.60)
MP2 ($16.80)
MP3 ($18.70)
CO ($27.40)
BTN ($59.25)
SB ($9.75)
BB ($33.25)

Pre-Flop: (1.5 SB, 10 players) Hero is MP1
UTG calls, UTG+1 raises, 1 fold, Hero calls, MP2 calls, 4 folds, BB calls, UTG calls

Flop: (10.5 SB, 5 players)
BB bets, UTG calls, UTG+1 raises, Hero calls, MP2 calls, BB calls, UTG calls

Turn: (10.2 BB, 5 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 bets, Hero calls, MP2 calls, BB calls, UTG folds

River: (14.2 BB, 4 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero checks, MP2 bets, BB calls, UTG+1 folds, Hero folds

Final Pot: 16.2 BB
BB shows a flush, Jack high

MP2 shows two pair, Jacks and Eights

BB wins 15.8 BB (net +11.8 BB)

UTG lost 2.0 BB
UTG+1 lost 3.0 BB
Hero lost 3.0 BB
MP2 lost 4.0 BB

OUCH! i know i am getting 15:1 on a call, but how often can a villain i have never seen fire w/o the goods be bluffing 2 others in such an obvious flushy spot and expect them to fold? wow.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

3bet prreeeeee, if they are going to call 3 bets cold with junk, I welcome that.

As played I'm not worried at all about BB having our flush beat, so in my mind it's not even really an overcall. I'd probably pay it off.

Probably more than 1 in 15 :P Quite often people will "value" bet stupid, stupid stuff like a straight, 2 pair, even top pair there. A smaller flush isn't out of the question either for him to be betting against checks.

It's kind of a silly game sometimes. We know he made a terrible play, but due to the terribleness of the other fish around him, his bet will often get called by QQ-AA and worse 2 pair hands. So his bet turns into a value bet of sorts against the uber fish.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

3-bet pre, unless you have reads that TT is behind the raiser's range.
As played, 3-bet the flop. People love to raise draws and pairs+draws on this sort of board, as well as overcards like AK. And many players will basically raise ANY donk bet when they are the pre-flop raiser. It's almost like a manhood thing. You are ahead of a lot here.

As played, turn is fine.

Call the river. 3 flushes and the straight flush beat you. A lot of straights, lower flushes, and even sets and 2-pairs could be betting this river. It's one BB to call. You are getting 14 to 1. Fortune favors the bold.

i wasnt very focused today, and that is also why i ran poorly.

i rarely flat TT. here i think i decided to because of the cold callers behind. they wouldnt hesitate to call 3 cold with a mix of overcardX (QX, AX) type of crap. i know we are ahead of that range, but we get priced into mistakes post flop that way since we dont know where we stand.....and they arent folding if they hit. and, they likely arent raising if the board comes QXX and they have Q6s to let us know we may be behind.

so, its sort of a crappy spot. 1) i took a different line than normal, so i wasnt comfortable. 2) i wasnt playing well today as it was.

i know to raise that flop, too. overpair + gutter is definitely a fairly strong hand and needs to be protected more or less. i also know the pot is large enough to justify paying off. and, i usually make the crying call here.

it was poorly played, i made no qualms about that. i showed it because i remember the passage in SSHE stating "calling in large pots is at most a small mistake, but folding the best hand in large pots is a DISASTER."

this was definitely a disaster.
