Well, I think you have to call. This is a pretty dry board for queens and this guy has maniac-like numbers.
But I am not sure I like the river check-raise. I can see positives and negatives for it. The only things you are afraid of here are aces or kings, a 2, a boat, or quads, so I know you figure that the range of hands betting the river behind you are going to include quite a lot of hands you beat, but on the other hand, if he really is raising the turn out of a position of strength, you are just giving him more bets by check-raising rather than check-calling.
But that's really read-dependent-- if you figure you can extract value from this guy often enough, there's nothing wrong with it.
But the bottom line story of this hand is you had queens, you got a very good board for queens, and if he beats you, he beats you, right?

i tossed AA and KK out from his preflop action. it is a rare maniac that wont 3bet those since he 3bets so much other crap. so, i think its highly doubtful that those hands are there.
i have him on pp's. some sets, sure. and, i didnt think the 2 was likely for whatever reason. i just didnt see him doing that, unless he thought i was full of shit. i usually see them slow play a street after their yahtzee card, but obviously some just keep the gas on as well.
bottom line, for me, yes....if we are beat we are beat. i just didnt see anything other than a set beating me. 99-JJ and AX (not AQ+) is what i expected to see, so i went for the c/r because i felt HE was full of crap.
but, the 3bet really made me sit back in my chair. so, i sort of went in the tank on that one and almost folded. i called and found JJ.
i wonder what he thought he would find? AK? certainly not 99. maybe AX of clubs?
